Move

Remember my last blogpost?
I wrote about all those Ning-communities starting on the Internet lately.
A few hours after I wrote that post last Friday I received an e-mail from
Rachel, the founder of the “A Year in the Life of an Art Journal” group.
Here is what she wrote:

“I just recently found out that ning will start charging all users who
use the FREE networks, and so we will be moving. I am working to get
all my ning groups moved to Facebook, I’m sorry for this inconvenience…”

So no more ning-groups…

WAIT

…did I read that correctly?

Facebook??!!!

I stayed away from facebook.

I never wanted to join.
I have enough communities and blogs to visit already.
I don’t need more “friends” and chatting…
I don’t have the time.

BUT…

Well. I gave in.
I don’t want to loose my “Art Journal group”

So now I’m on facebook.
*sigh*

The challenge for “AYITLOAAJ” was “move” this time.
A coincidence?

I don’t like moving.
Physically that is.

But when it comes
to art
I like to move.
To be moved.
To try.
To learn.
To stretch.
To find out.
To make mistakes.
To experience.
To be surprised.
To be pushed.

..

I embraced the word “move” and made this layout last weekend!

It’s a rather simple layout.
I used plain black cardstock. Sassafras paper. (I hung on to this particular
piece of paper for years. Why is it so hard and even scary to actually USE
the paper we love?!) A white marker for the journaling and a blue Copic
marker to enlighten some words. The image is cut out from a magazine.

Journaling:
“When it comes to art I like to move out of my comfort zone.
I can only grow if I’m willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable
when I try something new.”

(It’s a quote by Brian Tracy but I changed it a bit to make it mine)

..

I also started an art journal page for my Leonard Cohen Art Journal,
but it’s not finished yet. The page will be done by Friday though…
I’ll show you then. Expect another zentangling page too, ’cause
I picked up the “art of doodling” again in the evenings!

..

And that’s it for today.
The sun is shining, the planes are flying and I’m gonna visit some
blogs today (it’s been a while) and maybe work some more.
Or go for a walk – start moving!
What moves you??
Je t’embrasse!

loving the swirls and composition. i hardly ever use my few copic markers, because i use acrylics so much.
i’m a nomad, so definitely a mover, but have a daughter who i know needs a secure base.

i just emailed rachel, hoping she might consider a different set up, such as grou.ps

    Hi Marit
Thanks for popping over to my blog and leaving a lovely message. I have actually known about you for some time through Annemarie and have often visited your blog but not left a comment.
I think your artwork is fantastic and love how you inspire all your followers.

It’s a shame about NING no longer being free. I belong to a NING Animal and Nature group and we decided to set up a new account with Grou.ps.

All the best with your new Facebook Art Journal Group hope the transition is a smooth one.

Look forward to seeing you around cyberspace.

    Cheers
    Peggy

There is nothing more certain about life than change (and death, but that is also a type of change), and to move is to change. I will look for you on Facebook (I signed up quite a while ago but just really can’t get into it.) I really like your journal page and always enjoy reading your journaling. Have a great week!

i hope to welcome you next year…to our gallery of hope.
you can certainly be apart of this years success by spreading the word and helping more find the shrine auction!!!

    thank so much,
    rebecca

I’m soooo sad about Ning. I’ve been a member of several art groups for years, although I must admit I haven’t been as involved as I was a while ago. “Facebook”!!! Seems like the entire world is going to FB lately. My kids had me join so I could see family pics, etc. Never thought an art group would join. Hugs, Terri xoxo

I had not heard of ning until from you 🙂 charging a bad choice on there part. I am sure they lose most of there customers. Ah find me on facebook 🙂 I will find you too 🙂 Oh I love the beauty and simplicity of your newest page. And I know the curse of the sacred loved paper too well 🙂

Hmmm… what moves me? Spring is right now. I just feel so motivated and full of life after the long winter 🙂

    Fijne week, groetjes Viv

  • Maja Says:

    Groetjes Maja.

Just heard about the Ning news too…so sudden though…I’m still resisting Facebook!

Love your “Move” piece…must try journaling like this! It always looks awesome! 🙂

  • Annemarie Says:

Great page, Marit. I knew you would come to Facebook someday for some reason.

  • Danielle Says:

I know! Ning groups charging, and the facebook thing, I’m sorry, I can’t do it. I just can’t even deal with it. I figure, I still have the blog, and can look at and upload to the flickr group, so for now, I won’t do it!! NO!! we’ll see how it goes.

Your page is brilliant!! LOVE it for so many different reasons. It is wonderful!!

I still can’t figure out how to zentangle!! UGH!!

    Have a great day!

  • iris Says:

    Groetjes, Jenneke

  • Bethany Says:

I heard about the Ning groups. Too bad. 🙁 Your work is amazing. I love how you experiment so much. Working on doing that myself more. Sometimes I get too caught up in design work that I lose my artistic side. sigh…

  • ~*~Patty Says:

Good for you Marit, I just can not add Facebook to my list … I would NEVER leave my computer chair 🙂
Love your MOVE page, it is so graceful and so beautiful and so wonderful! Can you tell I really like it! Those ballerina legs and your doodling really speak to me missy!
