Pfeeeewwwww….

Can I take a deep sigh…?

A REALY DEEP SIGH….???

OK, done. I needed that!

You all know my new workshop “A Creative Art Journey” starts Friday, don’t
you? And of course I started working on it in time… but after I wrote a number
of lessons for it, it somehow didn’t feel right… don’t know why… I just didn’t
“like them” a lot. So I thought about it, talked about it with my beloved but
kept on going anyway… and suddenly last week I knew “what was wrong”
and I decided to go back to the beginning and change it… oooohhhh..
so little time left and right at that moment I decide to go back and start over.

..

I’m very satisfied with the lessons now but imagine the stress this brings!
I not only “changed” lessons, I also added extras (which means: even more
work in less time…!!!)

I’m up to my ears trying to stay ahead of the group now and there’s not much
time left for other things… BUT I did manage to make something to show you
today!

The box, oh, yes, that box.
I made the box to put my examples and lessons for the workshop in.
Every participant is free to work in or on whatever she likes but a tutorial
on how to make such a box will be part of the workshop.
Interested? Then hurry, and register!

..

Let me tell you about “queens day”Β  now.
As I told you before: on queens day everyone is allowed to sell stuff on
the streets (and a lot of peopleΒ  clean their houses before April 30 and sell
the stuff they don’t want to keep). For a scrapper and junk freak like me…
that’s “PARTY TIME”!!! I normally come home with a lot of old books to alter,
stamps and magazines and so on but I couldn’t find anything I like this time…

BUT
(and here’s a great “but”) ….

Nout has exams in two weeks, and after that he will graduate high school
(and go to the University next year) Like in America, they have a big party
after the exam weeks (is it called “prom” over in the USA???)
Anyway, he needs a suit for that and what he really wants – as he described
it to me – is uhhmm, well, let’s say “Armani suit”. Italian shape.
Yah, hey… helloooo, do you know the prize of a suit like that son?
So we decided he has to hire an “Armani like” suit for the party OR maybe
we would find something “second hand” on queens day…
AND, YESSSSs….!!!

First thing I discovered when we hit
the town last Friday – an Italian
suit. It’s awesome!!!! Very
expensive (not now, but it had
been when it was new…)

Because I once studied to be a
tailor’s cutter I recognized the
Italian “shape” instantly and when
Nout tried on the jacket it fitted!
I will have to tighten the trousers
(as you see, he’s long and thin!)
but hey, I know how to do that!

We bought the suit for 20 euro
(which is about 35 US dollar),
it’s made of very expensive wool
and has a marvelous, blue lining.

..

When we came home, Nout did some Internet research and found out
that this kind of designer suits costs (new) 1000-1500 euros!
OH MAN, we’re soooo happy we found it!!!

..

Another thing that makes me happy: my weekly art journal!!!
Here’s the first pages: Week 17

Remember I tore up that “failed page” last week?
I re-used some of those pieces on this page and I’m happy now that I didn’t
throw those scraps in the garbage can!

..

And the happiness goes on….

Peggy gave me this happy award
a while ago. The quote that goes
with it reads: “For bloggers who
inspire others with their positivity
and creativity”.

Now wouldn’t that make you smile?

Blogs (and ladies) who make me smile
are: Mrs. Peel and Phinner
This award goes to you ladies!

..

And the happiness
didn’t stop there.
It’s “awarding
time of the year”
I guess…

This one
was given
to me
by Mirjam.

When you receive this award you have to tell 7 things about yourself.
I did this before but I’ll try to think of 7 facts you don’t know yet…

  1. I’m 1.68 m (5.5 feet) tall and I weigh 62 kilo (136 lbs)
(Now THAT’s some fact, isn’t it?)
  2. I was a “boyish” girl when I was young. I played soccer,
climbed trees and made rafts rather than play with dolls!
  3. I suffer from periodontitis and pay the dentist a visit four
times a year (so I have no fear for dentists *teehee*)
  4. I have degrees in “tailor’s cutter”, “art teacher” and “social pedagogics”
  5. I’m most concentrated in the morning, I’m not a “night owl”
(that’s why Michelle and I are online together often – way past
midnight at her place and early morning over here… we fit!)
  6. I have a lot of grey hairs and I don’t mind.
  7. I love Italian food (pasta) but since my beloved doesn’t like it at all
    we hardly ever eat it…

I want to give this award to the Design team ladies from “Scrapping from
the Inside Out
“. I discovered that site through the DT call (I submitted,
remember?) and I visited all the DT’s personal blogs and WOWZAH…
I discovered some new and inspiring ladies! So here you go girls:

Kai
Nancy
Pinky
Rita
Stacey
Arlene
Paige
Diana

..

OK. That’s it for today.

Oh. NO. WAIT.
I have a question!

I think you all have heard by now that SIStv closes on May 15th
so where will you all go after that?
Which boards and galleries (beside your blogs) will you hang out?
I haven’t decided yet, so tell me: where will you go?

And now, I’m going to spend the rest of the day working on the lessons
some more. I wish you all a beautiful week with lots of sunshine
(we need it over here!) and happiness. See you on Friday!

Je t’embrasse!

You have been very busy and very productive! How lucky to find such a fantastic suit!!!!! I know he will look great in it! And always love to read facts about my blog friends. I will probably be posting more on flickr – maybe we can get a flickr group started and I have started posting a bit more on 2peas. I post a lot of my stuff on ScrapGal. I so wish that I could take your class but you are inspiring me to delve into some art history on my own. I know your class will be awesome! Have a great week!

  • Petra Coolen Says:

Do you have also a degree as tailorΒ΄s cutter ?

Oh wow Marit – I love your weekly art journal!!! It’s fantastic! I have a question – do you create it one day at a time, or sum up the week at the end? Just curious – it’s gorgeous!

Your art journal page looks great! I’m on the forum of ‘De scrapotheek’ (Dutch) and I might start visiting twopeas more often. I’ve also been browsing the ‘get it scrapped’ forum. I’m not sure what I want forumwise.

  • Danielle Says:

NO, I didn’t know you submitted!! Did you get it?? You have to write me and tell me!!
AND, while you are writing to me, send me the WHOLE picture of Nout!! I LOVE that suit. He can use it for so many other things!! That is the one thing every man needs, one good suit.

Hi Marit! What an incredible deal on that suit! And great you can fix it to fit. Love the page you did there as well, the colours especially for some reason.

I usually hang out over at two peas in a bucket. Not too much into participating on the message boards but I do post layouts there. I do read the message boards, there is a lot of useful info up.

    take care

  • Yyam Says:

Great score on the suit! What a steal! It must be so exciting to go “flea-market” shopping on Queen’s day! Glad you worked out the issues on your class…have a great one!

Hi, Marit! Thanks so much for the congrats! Don’t know how I pulled that off! πŸ˜‰ Oh, I love your art journal. You’ve inspired me to ‘practice’ art journaling more. I love it, but it doesn’t come naturally to me. Good find on that suit!!!

  • Kai Says:

Thanks Marit for the shout out and the award! I love your art journal and have really enjoyed perusing your SFTIO gallery albums… especially the Leonard Cohen one. Way cool! Can’t wait to see MORE!

  • Hanneke Says:

    Fijn weekend!!!!

  • Glenda Tkalac Says:

That’s so awesome you lucked into finding that great suit!! I’m loving that box and your art journal page is gorgeous!! Isn’t it funny that you saved those pieces and they were so perfect for it? Some things happen for a reason I guess and maybe what they say about there being no mistakes in art is true? That is something about SIStv but I know I never went on the boards (I just don’t have the time!) but I will still miss seeing everyone’s work. I’m thinking maybe 2peas?
