Freewheelin’ Friday (#22)
First I have to apologize to you all for not visiting your blogs…
there simply aren’t enough hours in a day and I need all my waking hours
to work on “must do” stuff… the deadlines keep staring at me and I keep on
running to stay ahead. I’m afraid this won’t get any better until June…
so please hang in there – next Month I will start visiting you all on
a regular base again!!! I miss you too, but no point in nagging about it…
let’s just go on with some things I can show you!
(that is, if you still visit this blog and wants to see it…)
..
..
Here’s the box I made for Mothers Day!!!
I told you I made a card for my mum… but I also made her this box!
It’s made to hold 9 cards (she got the first card for Mothers day) and I will
make her a card every now and then to put in this box.
I couldn’t send this box to her with the mail – I don’t think it would survive –
but she’ll get it as soon as I we meet.
(SO THIS IS FOR YOU MUM – HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON!)
Here’s another picture of the lid.
The box is made of thick paper. I used acrylic paint, spray ink, gel medium and
cut the Buddha out of a magazine. Doodles and text with permanent markers.
(The text on the side says “For mum from Marit I love you” and the top says
“Always someone that loves you”)
..
I finished the page for One Year in the Life of an Art Journal too this week.
The word was “Tears”
The photo is actually made of two (stock) photos. I combined a picture
of a little girl with a photo of a rainy window… and I transferred it to
the page. A bit of watercolour paint and a little bit of spraying, I tried to
keep it soft and tender and melancholic.
The big alphas are stamps (stamped with paint instead of ink) and the
purple journaling says:
I was used to see my little brother cry. He cried all the time and I hardly
reacted to that anymore. My mum cried not so much but it wasn’t strange
either to see her in tears, but I never forget the first time I saw my daddy cry.
I still can feel the pain and I’ll never forget.
..
And now I’m back to work. Hope your weekend is more relaxed!
Enjoy the good things!!!
Oh, and don’t forget to be back on Sunday, I have something
to share with you then!!!
Je t’embrasse!

Ooh, Marit, what are you going to share? I bet I forget to go and look, Sunday is my son’s birthday. Love the box, what a brilliant idea. Good luck with the deadlines, I have managed to accumulate several myself this weekend, so you have my sympathy! xxx

Sweet and precious box you made for your Mother Marit!
I understand about busy, sometimes I do not know if I am coming or going and I am not teaching any classes 🙂
Tears are very powerful, I have a small collection of tears quotes … here is one favorite:
“Tears are the safety valve of the heart when too much pressure is laid on it.” ~Albert Smith
Wishing you and yours a lovely weekend!

Kusjes xxx Peggy
