today, it IS IT…
I’m a guest designer for Gutter Girlz!!!
The announcement was already on their blog a few weeks ago,
and if you read that you already knew… but today it is officially!
I’m on their blog, photo and all!
And ofcourse I show what I made for their latest challenge!

But ofcourse I’ll show my take on the prompt on my blog too:
Here’s the original photo I used (yep, that’s me on a windy day on a Dutch
dike in 1986). Not a very good photo, but it fitted for what I had in mind.

I edited the photo in
photoshop. I tried some
different filters and ended
up with one that gave the
bitumen of the dike a
“weathered look”.

I used a picture of a real
pedestal as an example
to cut the shape and an
old marker to draw the
shadows. (It’s a black
marker but it hardly
writes anymore – it was
just perfect for this!
The title is written
with a golden marker.

And here’s the layout.
I used a (basic grey) background paper that shows a sky with clouds,
but just vagely and it hardly shows on this picture anymore (you still
can see some clouds on the right of the pedestal)
I hand stitched the “swirls” and used markers for the journaling.
The blue “frame” is made with my new oil pastels. LOVE THEM!

Tomorrow (Monday) the national exams start on all the highschools in
the Netherlands. My son hopes to graduate! He studied sooooo hard
and he still isn’t done yet. The exams take two weeks and I’m pretty sure
the upcoming weeks will be filled with nerves, books, study and stress…
(I’ll keep you posted!)
I’m sure he will get good grades but Nout (and his mum!) can certainly
use some support… Are you willing to send some good vibes our way?

Nout, veel succes met je examens! Je mama heeft veel vertrouwen in je, en veel van haar blog vriendinnen duimen voor je, dus dat kan niet verkeerd gaan hé!
Marit, het is veel te lang geleden dat ik nog eens ben langsgekomen!! Mijn grote kuis zit er eindelijk op … je ziet het al niet meer met al de rommel die er nu weer ligt hihi. Enfin, nu ga ik eerst even de tijd nemen om te zien wat ik allemaal gemist heb hier op je blog.
Bedankt voor de tip wat betreft die Chinese commentaren, ik volg je raad op en delete ze onmiddellijk nu hoor, maar ze blijven maar komen, heel vervelend!
Vandaag ga ik proberen weer eens een hele dag aan mijn scrappen te besteden … wat blogs lezen, wat DT work doen, en vooral weer eens proberen in mijn art journal te werken, wat heb ik dat gemist!! Ik denk dat ik dat nog liever doe dan het “originele” scrappen. Je hebt me helemaal verslaafd gemaakt haha! Dus, sorry, maar wat mij betreft sta je echt op een “pedestal” hoor. Jij bent ongetwijfeld één van de “artiesten” (mag ik wel zeggen) waar ik het meest naar opkijk. Je blog is een bron van inspiratie, en het doet natuurlijk ook geen kwaad dat je gewoonweg een lieverd bent. Dat wilde ik toch even kwijt.
Oké, genoeg van dat zoetsappige gepraat haha, ik ga de rest van je blog bekijken, tot later!
Nout, hou de moed erin, de examens zijn voorbij voor je het weet (komende van iemand die tijdens de examenperiode meer tijd op het “kleine kamertje” doorbracht dan waar dan ook haha).

Great page!
I’m not a teenager but I have the central examns for VWO English in less than two weeks, I don’t worry about passing them but I’m still studying a lot in order to get the best mark I can. Good luck Nout!

Prachtige LO voor de Gutter Girlz meis!!! Geweldige vondst om die sokkel op die manier te maken!! Met al die steekjes ben je wel een tijdje bezig geweest denk ik…
Enne… Nout; ik weet zeker dat je die examens gaat halen!! Je hebt nooit echt problemen gehad met school dus je gaat deze examens gewoon “even” doen! Je wilt immers dolgraag in Nijmegen verder gaan studeren… toch??

Als eerste heel veel suc6 toegewenst aan Nout en natuurlijk aan jou Marit, voor de komende 2 weken.
Die 2 weken zijn zo om!
Ga zo eens even bij GG kijken, wat leuk dat je hun guest designer bent.
De layout is weer helemaal in Marit stijl, mooi gedaan hoor!

yay!!! Love having you join us this month Marit and your project is amazing (as always!!). You must have the patience of a saint for all that stitching but it looks awesome!!! Hope your weekend is going well and I can hardly wait to see your next art journal page. I’m hoping to do mine this weekend or early next week.

As far as that GG layout…awesome! You so think out of the box. I have a picture I never know what to do with it. And that stitching…man! that was a lot of work!

Hihi 😉 Ik kom al vaker bij je langs en heb al 2 x zitten dubben of ik niet je ‘let it loose’ cursus zou volgen, maar steeds past het toch weer niet qua tijd…maar misschien in de herfst???

Love the lay-out and go you for guest spot over at the gutter girlz. So will have to swing over and check it out. I love the picture you used on the lay-out and the technique very cool!!!!!!!!!
