A new phase…

Good Morning my friends!!!

I’m a bit sentimental this week… my son is in the middle of his exams and
in a couple of weeks he will graduate AND turn 18…

So I have a question for you all…

..

I came across this on the Internet and I thought it was such a wonderful idea!
And so I decided to do something a bit like it…

I would LOVE to make Nout a little book (not an e-book like this lady does,
but a mini-album just for him) with advice and good wishes when he turns 18.
Advice that he can take with him while stepping into a new life phase,
good wishes and nice words to look at when he grows older, that he can
re-read when he feels lonely or in pain.  A sweet little album filled with words
from all over the world…
What would YOU say to a young adult?
What wishes do you have for him on his eighteenth birthday?
What is your best advice for Nout as he leaves home and ventures into
the world? Or maybe you like to say something in a layout – create a page?

If you like to participate, please e-mail me your contribution (words or image)
Submit it before JULY 1st with the subject line “ADVICE TO NOUT” and be
sure to sign it, letting me know how to attribute it to you. (name, place &
country)

You can e-mail me by clicking on the “mail me” button on the right (menu bar)

edit 5/26
After a question about the seize I decided to make a 6 x 6 inch album
(15 x 15 cm). I will bind it with rings or a book binding technique, but I will
make an extra strip on the page to bind it so if you’re planning to make a page
you can use the complete 6 x 6 surface. You can send a photo/digi or if you
want to send the original, mail me for my adress. (mail should be here before
July 1st!) I will write or print the quotes you send to put on the pages and I will
add envelopes to the book to put longer “letters” in.
If there are any questions left shoot me an e-mail!

..

On to my weekly journal.
Here’s the page from last week.
I still don’t know what to think of the colour… it’s kinda harsh
I might do a sea-blue page this week and see how that turns out.

As you can see, Nout took three exams last week and they ALL went well!
Four more to go (Mathematics this afternoon, keep your fingers crossed!)

..

Tangled

I started working on
the AYITLOAAJ
prompt yesterday
evening. The word
is “tangled” and the
page isn’t finished
yet, but I show you
a sneak peek.

I don’t know where
this page will end –
it kind of “leads me”
– but I do feel it’s
not finished yet.
We’ll see where
it take me…

..

There are not many men working in the scrapbooking or art journaling field,
so I was surprised to find a new link to a couple of men that show amazing
art journals!!! Eric and David just published a book, which you can win on
Seth’s blog (hop on over to The Altered Page if you like to be in the draw!)
and it was through Seth that I found these guys.
Their work is gorgeous and very inspiring!
Here’s a link to their website: Journal Fodder Junkies

..

Last Friday, the new DT from “Scrapbooking from the Inside Out” was
announced. I didn’t make it but I’m sure new opportunities will arise.
In fact, something emerges on the horizon right now!
I can’t say anything about it yet but if all goes well, I will have a big
announcement to make in the near future!!!

..

Off to have me another cup of coffee now before I go work on the workshop
lessons some more. Yep, still not done. I will be finished in about two weeks.
Please forgive me for not (much) visiting your blogs in between – I will spend
time on all of your blogs next Month!

Have a good week and don’t forget about the “Advice for Nout

Je t’embrasse!

Hi Marit, thanks for the sweet comments on my blog! I love the idea of making a little book for Nout, if I can think of something wise to say I will send it along (My initial reaction is to say something like “don’t go to University!”, but that isn’t very helpful, haha)

Good luck and can’t wait to see what you do! And your Art Journal is wonderful, I have a really hard time making pages like that, I should try though…

Oh Darlin’. You sound so melancholly. I know, I am feeling the same. Robert will start High school this year. He is going to his 8th grade dance next friday, and he asked a girl to go with him today, and she said yes!!! As happy as I am for him, I am crying inside. My baby? going to high school? has a DATE????? WHAT?? when, how?

I will be worse when he is graduating from high school, I will probably fall apart. I understand my friend. I will be sure to send some advice for Nout to you. What a wonderful gift. He is a lucky boy!!!

You are such a tease only showing a peek of your journal page but I love the one you did show!! Also thanks for the links to the other journal blogs, I’m off to check them out now! Oh, and I know there must be something bigger and better out there for you and can hardly wait to hear what it is!!!

    Hallo Marit

time to give your son his wings … here is my favorite blessing of all time … we sing it at the end of yoga classes and it seems to fit all situations:

Dear Nout (such a cool name!)

May the long time sun shine upon you
    All Love surround you
and the pure Light within you
    Guide your way on!!!
