Orange boots
(Freewheelin’ Friday #25)

The weather forecast was right… it’s beautiful sunny weather here in
the Netherlands! It lightens my mood… but that’s not all!
I’m almost done with all the “musts” – I think I need another week
of hard work and then I can breath a little more AND visit all your blogs!!!
I also have some plans this Summer – and thΓ‘t lightens my mood too!!!
(I tell you more in this post so keep reading…)

Because of the nice weather and because I love These are a few of my
favorite things
(they celebrate their one year anniversary!!!) I took some
“me-time” and created a layout for the challenge:

What are your favorite shoes?

..

Yep, you read it right – Orange boots!!!
(and no, that’s not because off the football team playing at the
world soccer games in Africa… πŸ˜‰ )

Here’s the layout

Now aren’t those super boots?
I have them for 14 years now and although I don’t wear them often –
I still LOVE my orange boots!!!

I used Sassafras paper for the background.
The alphas come from my stash and I really don’t know the brand anymore
(I took the package off long ago..)

I outlined the photo and wrote the text at the top with puffy paint.
The text says: “I feel like superwoman when I wear my…”

The text is
readable in
real life, but
it’s hard to
get it right
on the photo.
The dimension
is difficult
to see either
(even on this
detail photo.)

..

What are your plans for this Summer?
I know, most people love to go on vacation so a lot of you won’t be at home…
but I’m not fond of vacation – when it comes to “stay somewhere else.”
I mean, I have nice little garden with a comfy chair, I love my living room with
the big table where I can create, I have a refrigerator with a nice cold bottle of
white wine, I can play the music I like ’cause it’s right here and my bed is the
best place to sleep! So why go somewhere else to sleep on the floor in a tent?
To sit in the grass or on a wobbly chair and hear loud music you don’t like
coming from the campers next to you (or worse, stay in a hotel room with thin
walls so you can find out how others make love.. eeeck!)

I will be right at home this Summer (maybe go to Zeeland for a few days to
visit mom and dad but that’s it) and since I know YOU won’t be around
because YOU will sit on the grass getting stiff in some other country, I will
spend my time to write a new workshop and to re-style my website (and
maybe my weblog too). The website will be available in English AND Dutch
after the Summer (since most of the workshops are in Dutch too, and that
wasn’t always clear to the Dutch readers… )

There won’t be any workshops this Summer, but in September “Let it Loose
will start again (you can pre-registrate by sending me an e-mail, I put you
on the list then and send you a reminder in September, but since the exchange
rate (Euro – USD) is dramatically low at the moment it might be a good idea
to registrate right now if you want to take this workshop)

A new workshop will start at the end of October, but since the making is in
a very early stage, I can’t tell you anything about it yet.

And there are some other plans dancing in my head – just thoughts that
might lead to something. I’ll think it all over and maybe work on that too
in the next months.

..

For now, I’m gonna put my chair in the garden and enjoy the sunshine.
I hope you all have a beautiful weekend!

Je t’embrasse!

I am gathering advice and wisdom from all over the world – to add in a mini
album I’m creating for my son to give to him as he graduates highschool Γ‘nd
turns 18. What would you say to him? What advice would you give to a young
adult, stepping into a new life phase? All quotes, suggestions, advice, poems
and so on are welcome! Read more about it in this post.

And sadly, we have nothing planned for this summer, as Arizona is the HOTTEST state in the USA (tomorrow is going to be 112 degrees! UGH!) and there is noooooooooooooooooo humidity…so U never sweat off the heat….just hate it!! LOL!! Soooooooooooo we stay indoors as much as possible! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

  • Chris Says:

Just love your orange boots – I don’t think that I have ever seen orange boots but they look like fun – and oh so comfy. We will be home most of the summer – a short trip in early August up to the mountains in North Carolina where it’s so much cooler than Florida. Have a super weekend!

  • Mirjamc Says:

Mijn LO over mijn fav shoes is net af.

Fijn weekend en geniet lekker in je tuin, Viv.

  • Hanneke Says:

Echt weer in jouw eigen stijl!!!!

    Greetings from Limburg,

  • Jessi W Says:

  • Annemarie Says:

Well, yesterday was the last day of school, but Monday is the first day of summer school. In july, Peggy will be here and then we leave for Norway! After that school starts again and my family and I will preparing to move to Indiana in December. I know the time will pass quickly.

  • anne Says:

love those boots!!! and i love that you can wear them and feel like superwoman! the alphas and journaling are terrific! i’m much too self-conscious to wear anything that stands out. i’m going to follow your stay-cation plans this summer though. going to try to take a friday off, every other week.

  • Glenda Tkalac Says:

That layout is soooo sassy, I just love the pic of you wearing those orange boots!!! This summer I will visit my parents like I do every summer for 10 days. AFter that I just hope to enjoy life. It would be nice to be rich enough to travel and see the world but I have a wee bit of a fear of flying and of catastrophes. I’m such a freak I know!!

  • phinner Says:

yay for white wine and arting & crafting! oh and for orange boots too!!!

the trip I have planned for my summer vacation involves 20+ hours in 1 van with 5 other stinky people, running portions of a 199 mile race from central to coastal Oregon! yes! my idea fun! LOL!!!

  • Felecia Says:

Marit! Saw you over on 37 days!! WOOHOO!!!

  • Amy Muffoletto Says:

Wow… I am so into orange right now. love your boots. This is a great layout. Thank you so much for playing with us. Hugs, Amy

  • Danielle Says:

I’m not going anywhere either Marit! I too don’t really like going away very much. I’m sure everyone will think I’m crazy too!! But I always feel like I need a vacation AFTER taking a vacation!!!

BTW!!! Did I send you something to say in Nout’s journal? I thought I emailed you. Ok man, I hope I did, and I’m just second guessing myself. I’m losing my mind?

  • Thinkie Says:

I love travelling but no way I’m sleeping on the floor and getting stiff from sitting in the grass. That’s not for us, and even if I had been healthy it wouldn’t be for us. I want a bed and a private bathroom. Fortunately we usually don’t hear our neighbours in hotels, or at least much much less than we hear our neighbours at home…
I’m starting to like te idea of maybe having a garden some day (not affordable in our part of the Netherlands but it is in some other provinces), and if we lived somewhere without never ending renovation noises and weekly midnight houseparties I would enjoy staying at home more than I do now. But because of my health I spend most of my days at home so to me travelling is the way to get out of the house and experience and learn and enjoy new things. It’s very important to me!
We usually don’t travel a lot during July and August (apart from daytrips) but this summer we’re heading to Germany for a week and spend some time with my dad, stephmum and little sister who will be on vacation there.

  • Mina Says:

Thats a lovely design , never seen anything like it before – your very talented =)

  • Irma Says:

Coole boots!
    Groetjes – Irma

  • Bethany Says:

What a fun funky page Marit! Love it!

  • Denise Says:

Very Emma Peel (Avengers TV show), LOL! Love those orange boots and love how you featured them on this LO! Good luck with the contest πŸ™‚
