Bright days!
I want to thank you all for the support you gave after my “dentist disaster”
(see former post) I’m used to dentists and pain and tooth problems (I have
periodontitis) but last Thursday really was a scary experience.
I’m doing well now though and have one tooth less to brush.
Yes, I count my blessings! After all, my word for this year is “Smile” –
and that’s what I’m doing. Smile and look on the bright side!
What is bright right now?
Well, to start with – the weather is!
Today will be a hot day, but after tomorrow – when we first have some rain – the weather will be absolutely fantastic! (so they say…)
More brightness?
A long time ago, my mom gave me a crocheted skirt.
I call it my “witch skirt” – but some years ago my shoe heel got stuck
in the skirt and I tore it…
Because I didn’t have a crochet hook back then, I put the skirt in a drawer
and totally forgot about it… I rediscovered it last weekend!
AND… I do have crochet hooks now! I repaired the skirt, washed it
and now it feels like having a brand new fashion item FOR FREE!!!
(And now you’re all curious to see it? I will take some pics soon when I’m
in a witchy mood…!)
Brightness:
I watch the “Tour de France” (it’s a 3 weeks long bicycle race) on TV and
the racers arrived in the Pyrenees (high mountains between France and Spain)
The next few days will be exciting to watch them climb, and since the numbers
one and two are close to each other in “points” (seconds) I will be stuck to the
TV to see who will win on Sunday!
And of course… some creative brightness!

This is for “A Year in the Life of an Art Journal”
The word was “believe” and I used a quote by John Lennon.
“I believe in everything until it’s disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths,
dragons. It all exists even if it’s in your mind. Who’s to say that dreams and
nightmares aren’t as real as the here and now?” ~ John Lennon
The orange part is paper which I sprayed and put salt on it. I still love the way
the salt sucks up the ink and leaves those incredible shapes and spots!
I tore the paper and glued it onto the page with a “crack” in between.
I used a permanent marker to hand write the journaling.
As a finishing touch, I stamped with bubble wrap plastic and black paint.

My weekly art journal – week 28
Not much to tell about this page. I cut the photo from New York City
out of a “national Geographic” (my aunt once gave me a large pile of
these magazines) because my son was there last week.
..
And here’s a card (and envelope) I made for my mom.
Not a special reason – just because…
The big word says “Wish” and the little sentence (in the cloud) says
“with mom to the market.” That’s my little wish at the moment…
spend some days with my parents and just relax, go to the market,
stroll along the seaside.. nothing special.
See… there’s always something to believe in life.
There’s always something to wish for and if you look around,
there’s always something bright!
One last bright tip for you before I go see the Tour de France…

Wat een moois weer Marit! Ik ben weg van ‘t lieve ‘zomaar’-kaartje voor je moeder! Inspirerend! Ik hoop dat deze wens snel uitkomt! Die zout-techniek wil ik ook eens uitproberen. Heb al een pot zeezout-kristallen en ecoline gekocht. Maar altijd nog een lichte vrees om ermee aan de slag te gaan.
Gelukkig te lezen dat ‘t beter met je gaat Marit!

Het is idd prachtig weer vandaag ( hopen dat het zo blijft). Je “zoutexperiment” is erg mooi geworden, zo kun je toch weer een andere achtergrond creëren. Je wekelijkse art journal is ook al zo mooi. De foto (knipsel) van New York doet het `em op deze pagina. Het wens kaartje voor je moeder is ook super, helemaal in jouw stijl, ik hoop dat het snel uitkomt.

Wow… wat een produktie en dat met deze hitte!!! En je werken zijn weer allemaal prachtig! Ik vind die “zout” achtergrond echt heel mooi en die kaart (en envelop!!) voor je moeder… zoooo waanzinnig! Je zegt wel altijd dat kaarten maken niet jouw “ding” is maar deze is echt fantastisch hoor!!!

En wat een toestand bij de tandarts… Ben blij dat het goed afgelopen is! Ik heb me altijd al afgevraagd waarom iemand tandarts wil worden. Kan er echt helemaal niets leuks aan ontdekken!! Beulen zijn het, hihi..
7 weken zonder je zoon…rustig, maar ook stil. Sterkte, Marit!!
En wat ben je weer creatief geweest, super!

Wat ben je weer heerlijk bezig geweest, zeg! Brrrr, hou me op over tandartsverhalen, ik heb een dontophobie! Maar gelukkig is alles weer goed gekomen…
Dat met dat zout moet ik toch ook echt eens gaan proberen, het ziet er zoooo mooi uit!

YIKES! Sorry about the dentist. I HATE the dentist. Obviously, no matter what contry you are in EVERYONE hates the dentist. I’ve never heard someone say “I love my dentist”. Have you??

Eerst en vooral Marit, bedankt voor je geweldig commentaartje op mijn blog. Hoewel ik natuurlijk al lang weet dat ik voor mezelf moet creëren, had ik het blijkbaar toch nodig om het nog eens een keertje van anderen te horen. Erg toch hoe een klein beetje kritiek in je hoofd kan blijven spoken hé… Maar je hebt natuurlijk overschot van gelijk, en je woorden hebben me zo’n deugd gedaan! Bedankt meid!
Wat Heesch betreft, ik zou het geweldig vinden als ik ook jou zou kunnen ontmoeten!!! De volgende keer dat ik ga zal ik je het zeker op voorhand laten weten, dan kunnen we misschien afspreken. Omgekeerd natuurlijk ook, als jij gaat, laat het me dan weten, dan probeer ik ook zeker te komen! Maar je bent gewaarschuwd hé, ik praat nogal veel hé hihi.
Je werkjes zijn super!!!! Ik wilde dat ik ook genoeg zelfdiscipline had om zo’n weekly journal te maken, maar ik kan me er niet toe brengen om op regelmatige basis iets neer te pennen. Maar ik geef het idee nog niet op hoor, ooit zal het er van komen!
En nu ga ik even die link “creativity classes” bekijken! Tot later!
