And there’s more good news… OH MY…
it seemed all the good things came right my way this week!

Finally, FINALLY I can tell you what it is about when I posted this (May 25th)
“I can’t say anything about it yet but if all goes well, I will have
a big announcement to make in the near future!!!”
That near future turned out to be three Months later, but as of today I’m
allowed to tell you that from now on I will be writing articles for the Dutch
Scrap Magazine Creatief met Foto’s.
I wrote some test articles back in June and it went so well that the publisher
decided to hire me to write articles for the future issues. So Dutch ladies who
make lay-outs for this magazines: I will be the one to write the articles that go
with your lay-outs! Isn’t that great news???
Since Michelle and I announced our new workshop which we will be teaching
together I walked on clouds and just when the adrenaline seemed to evaporate
Nout came home AND this big news came my way. Guess where I am now?
Is there an eight heaven?

There are some implications that come with this news though…
Writing the new workshop AND writing approximately 16 articles in the
next Month will leave me with less time to create… I do plan to get my
weekly journal pages done every week (I’m kinda hooked on that!) but
there will be no extra time to play. I won’t disappear, no way, but there
will be not as much lay-outs as there were last Months on my blog in the
upcoming weeks…

But for now, I have my weekly art journal pages from last week to show
AND a little extra…
Here’s week #33 – of course filled with pictures I took in Zeeland.

I got a few questions about my weekly art journal (“how do you start a page”,
“do you write what happened every day or at the end of the week”)
I made pictures this week from starting this weeks’ page up ’til this day so
you can see how I “build my page” during the week. I hope these photo’s of
the process will answer your questions but if you have more – please shoot!

Bree back in
2009.
She cut of the
back of the book
and put holes
in the cover
and all the pages.
She altered
the cover and
bind it
together using
book bind rings.

Here’s a view from the side.

On Monday, I turn the page to start a new week/page.
The pages still look as they did when they came right of the original book.
The left page is the back of the right page from the former week.
For the right side I pick a plain “fresh” page.
..
I cover the pages with a layer of gesso.
..
On Monday or Tuesday – when the gesso is dry – I decide on the background
colour. I usually paint the pages, but occasionally I glue pattern paper over it.
It’s just what comes to mind…

You can see I choose a bright blue for this week.
There’s no special purpose for this – I just choose what seems to fit with the
feeling I have at the moment I paint the background. When the week turns
out to be “a different colour” I put another layer of gesso on it and start again…
..
And then the “playing” starts!
I wanted to try a collage “like Lena” so I took some fashion magazines out
of the closet and flipped through it.

The collage was made on Wednesday, and I had such fun!
I made the hat from an image of jeans…

I found the page a bit bare so I made a frame all around the page
using little scraps cut out of magazines.

The next day (Thursday) I wrote the text for the first three days of the week.

I still have to do Thursday (I knew my son would come home so I left space
to put a picture or write a lot of text) and I knew in advance that I had an
appointment in Heesch on Friday, so I left the right page to be filled over
the weekend. I usually complete the pages on Sunday evening.

Wat fijn dat je zoon weer heelhuids terug is! Foto’s al allemaal bekeken???
Ja, jammer dat je nu wat minder tijd hebt om creatief bezig te zijn voor jezelf. We zullen je werk missen…

Congratulations, Marit, you’ll do a brilliant job. Sixteen articles does sound like a lot, but I bet you spend most of your time editing down to the right number of words, lol!

Wat moet jij een partijtje blij geweest zijn deze week, zeg! Ja, je schreef het zelf al, de achtste hemel 😉 Ontzettend gefeliciteerd met al het succes! Natuurlijk jammer, dat je nu eerst minder tijd hebt voor het creatieve, maar zie schrijven ook als een vorm van creativiteit, toch?

GEFELICITEERD MEIS!!!! Zo cool dat je na één keer “proefschrijven” gelijk zo’n grote opdracht krijgt!! Die man was natuurlijk gelijk overtuigd van jou schrijverstalent!!
Fijn dat Nout weer terug is enne…. volgens mij is hij ook centimeters gegroeid hoor. Hij ziet er “opeens” zo volwassen uit!!
Leuk om te zien hoe een bladzijde in je weekly journal tot stand komt. En collages maken IS gewoon écht leuk om te doen!!!

How exciting for you!!! I am happy you have this new job. I can’t imagine how you felt to have your boy come home. Funny, when my friend came to USA for the first time from Norway, he immediately bought cowboy boots. Wonder why that is?

Zo Marit wat een geweldig nieuws is hier allemaal te lezen, kan me voorstellen dat je met je hoofd in de 7e hemel bent 🙂
Ben echt benieuwd naar je schrijfsels in de CMF, gelukkig heb ik een abonnement dus ik ga het helemaal volgen!
Je art journal is prachtig geworden, heb zin om weer een cursus van je te beginnen 🙂

GEFELICITEERD, wat ontzettend leuk voor je. Wij ( je bloglezers ) weten al lang dat je goed kunt schrijven. Nu gaat de rest van “scrapland” dat ook zien !!!!! Ik heb ook een abonnement dus kan ik je daar ook volgen. Fijn voor je dat Nout weer thuis is, hij zal wel heel wat te vertellen hebben.Je art journal ziet er weer super uit.
