The weeks fly by when you’re busy… it’s Friday already!
Hey you guys!
I was very busy over the last 2 weeks with writing articles for CmF
and in between I am also working on lessons (and “extras”) for the new
online art journal workshop with Michelle… it’s hard NOT to tell
what we’ve been up to because we have soooo much fun!
I can tell you this much: it’s going to be ONE HECK OF A WORKSHOP!!!
If the participants have only half the fun Michelle and I have
while working on it, it will be a blast!

I haven’t had the opportunity to show you my weekly art journal from
the week before. And I even managed to get another layout done last weekend!

Week 35
Week 35 was all about writing articles. That’s why I tore the “Creatief met
Foto’s” title from the magazine to glue on my page. The coloured letters
are cut from different magazines and spell “writing articles”. A lot of writing
on this page (hey, I was doing that already so I was in the mood!)
Seeing my weekly art journals for quite a while now, Peggy got really inspired
and yesterday she posted her first page on her blog. Have you seen it?
It’s such a wonderful page and as her old “juf” 😉 I’m very proud of her.
Way to go Peggy!!!

I’m a little behind on the A Year in the Life of an Art Journal prompts
but I caught one word up and made this page with the word Symbolic.
Remember the photo of my mom’s hand and all her rings?
Remember I said that there’s a story that goes with her rings?
Last weekend, I made this page with the photo
And here’s the story:
My mom’s a writer (children books mostly). In 2006 she started on a book
about a little witch. And my mom decided to buy herself a ring every time she
finished a chapter. The little witch lives near the sea (as my mom) and therefor
the rings she bought were silver with green and/or blue.
(You must know my mom actually is a mermaid. That’s what she told me when
I was little. She lost her way in the big sea one day and washed up on the beach,
where my father found her. They fell in love and they got a sweet little daughter,
Marit – which means “daughter of the sea” and a little boy, Ricky – named after
his grandfather. And they all live happily ever after!)
Anyway. My mom wrote a lot of chapters. She bought a lot of rings.
The book was finished and published in 2007 but she never took off her rings.
She still wears all of them!

Love your pages Marit and the story about your mom and the meaning of your name. I love your name and was wondering if it had anything to do with the sea (since the Italian word for sea is mare) very cool 🙂

Prachtig verhaal over je moeder Marit! En wat een gaaf verhaal vertelde ze toen je klein was! Heerlijk! Super mooie pages heb je gemaakt en ja, die van Peggy heb ik ook al bewonderd en nu wil ook heel graag beginnen! Het werkt aanstekelijk 😉
En ik loop ook zo achter bij A Year in the life…en ik ben jouw workshop aan het af maken 😉

Je moeder een schrijfster, en dan ook nog van kinderboeken. Wow! klinkt dat even goed zeg 🙂 Dus vandaar jouw schrijftalent!

Wat een prachtige foto met bijpassend verhaal! Het lijkt me heerlijk om als kind te geloven in zeemeerminnen en al die heerlijke verhalen die je moeder er dan bij vertelt 🙂
Je art journal pages zijn ook weer helemaal top, heb ook zin om weer aan de slag te gaan met art journaling. Ik wacht nog even op je nieuwe workshop 🙂

Oops… I just caught you telling a little lie…
Your mom did take off one of her rings. The one she bought after chapter one. She gave that one away to the winner of a little witch contest. Guess who that winner was…. Yep, my dd Carmen and she still wears that ring!! (send you a pic later!)
LOVE the layout you made of your moms hand, that background looks fabulous and matches so well with the photo!!!

Oh hemeltje Marit, ik kon mijn ogen niet geloven toen ik zag dat je me in je post vermeldde!!!! Dat raakt me nu echt, ik vind dat zo ontzettend lief van je! Ik ben nog geen beetje trots nu! En je gelooft het nooit, maar ik heb zelfs mijn tweede pagina al voorbereid, klaar om zondag op te scribbelen. Veel gaat er niet op staan denk ik, ik ben heel de week ziek geweest en voel me nog steeds geen 100%…
Jouw art journal page is zoals steeds weer geweldig! De pagina die ik nu gemaakt heb, heb ik ook weer enkel en alleen met verf gemaakt, maar de volgende ga ik net als jij eens wat andere dingen proberen te combineren…en hopelijk lukt het me ooit eens een “Lena” pagina te maken, die zijn ook altijd zo geweldig.
Die pagina met die foto van je mama haar hand en ringen … SUPER!!!! En wat een mooi verhaal.
Wat je workshop betreft, als mijn budget het enigszins toelaat (de kids hebben veel nieuwe spulletjes nodig…) mag je binnenkort mijn inschrijving verwachten…
Nog eens bedankt Marit, je steun en enthousiasme doen me altijd goed!

Wat een prachtig verhaal over je moeder…Bij ons in de familie wordt vaak gezegd, dat mijn moeder eigenlijk een zigeunermeisje is, maar jullie verhaal is nog veel mooier!

Mooie pagina’s Marit!!! Ik moest erg lachen toen ik het verhaal las over je zeemeermin moeder. Lijkt me leuk om een moeder te hebben die zo fantasierijk is (de mijne is dat absoluut niet!) Ik ken haar kinderboeken niet maar heb ze wel eens ergens zien liggen. Trouwens ook leuk om te lezen dat je in CmF komt te staan!! Ik zal eens kijken naar de challenge waar je het over hebt en misschien dat ik wel mee ga doen.

Mooie artjournalpagina weer !!! Net als Peggy denk ik steeds dat wil ik ook gaan doen, maar het komt er maar niet van! Misschien na mijn vakantie ( die net is begonnen ). Geweldig verhaal en LO van je moeder en haar ringen.Wij gaan deze vakantie ook naar zee, misschien komen we je moeder wel tegen. hi,hi.

I loooveeee your mom’s story and I love that art journal page!!! She is a bauble lover like myself, those rings are gorgeous!!! This is my favorite page of yours yet and it tells such a great story and will be one you will cherish!!

Ooh, that page is very pretty and I just love the ring story, how fantastic!! You are so lucky to have a mermaid for a mom!
