Catching up…

This is going to be a chaotic post… with a lot of randomness.
Things are a bit hectic at the moment and the more I create,
the more my “to do” list seems to grow instead of shrink.
I discovered some new blogs/artists lately (thanks to
the buried treasure project) and the inspiration has taken flight!
I just can’t choose where to start or what to begin with.
Lots of images/ideas/possibilities whirl through my head and I guess
it all has to descend and find it’s place before I can filter “my own thing”
out of it.

Do I sound a bit cryptic? Sorry, my English writing is not bad but
when it comes to explaining mixed feelings inside it’s hard to find
the right words in another language…

So let’s stop talking and let’s start showing!

“Elvis-pie”

OK, OK, some of you know I was gonna bake an “Elvis pie” for my
son’s birthday and asked me to make a picture, so here it comes…

This is the book a
friend gave me as
a present years
ago… it’s filled
with lovely old
Elvis pictures and
“food Elvis loved”
(so it says…)
You have to be
careful flippin’
through the pages
thought, otherwise
the fat will drip
off  🙂 If this is
really the food Elvis eat all his life, than it’s no wonder he ended up that fat!

I never used this cookbook, but when my son’s 15th birthday came up,
two years ago, he asked me to make the “Elvis pie that is in front of that book”.
It took me a lot of time to figure out the recipe – all American measurements
and cooking jargon – but I managed to translate and bake this pie!
And it tasted so well that it ended up being our special birthday “Elvis pie”!

Father’s Day & Lisa update

Today it’s Father’s day in the Netherlands and I made my dad this card.

Journaling:
“Dear,
the ways to say
“daddy, I love you”
aren’t way from
petered out yet.
Kisses from
your daughter.”

Back of the card,
you all know
this one…

“Je t’embrasse”
(I give you a hug)

He was very happy with it when he received it last week….

Yep, that’s right! I’d mistaken the date and send it one week early!
It was good for a laugh though, ’cause he called me and said he was honoured
that I loved him thát much to send a card already, and that he couldn’t wait
to see what next week (the correct date) would bring… heehee

Fire!

Don’t be frightened, there’s no fire around here, but this was the challenge
over at Scrapping out LOUD!

“Fired up!
FIRE! – Your house is on fire, your family and pets have escaped and taken your scrapping stuff with them…..including albums and photos. What is the one thing you would grab to save from the fire? and why? “

Now isn’t that a question we all asked ourselves one time… like when you where a kid? I remember when I was in primary school, questions like this where common, it was like a game we played: “You move to a deserted island, what would you bring with you?” or (one of the heavy and meanest ones!)
“One has to die, who would you pick, your mum or your dad?”

I don’t remember what my answer to the first question was back then,
but I definitely wouldn’t answer the second one! I just couldn’t! (Still can’t!)

Anyway, I knew my answer
to the “Fire question” right away…

I also used Jessica’s sketch
to scrap my “One item”
(well… in my case it’s about
50 items but they’re in one
plastic box – and although
that box is quite heavy to lift,
I would run for it to rescue
that treasure!)

Alice sneak peek

One sunny holiday weekend in Holland, and I weed my garden (applause please!) got me a tan and did some scrapping! Not that I can show you that much… most of what I did must stay secret for a while longer, but I want to show you at least a tiny little bit. If only just to prove I didn’t lost my mojo…

I worked on the “Alice in Wonderland Circle Journal” today – and spend quite some time finding the right “form” for something. It was all in my head, but it didn’t work out the way I expected so I had to think of something else… I know, it sounds a bit mysterious but I don’t want to give away too much. Anyway, I can tell you it’s finished now; my pages are ready to send of to Bree! She will bind all the different pages from the participants together, and in time I will get a complete “Alice Journal” back in the mail. Can’t wait to see what the other ladies will create inspired by Alice!

Here’s a tiny little peek of what I made
(wanna see a bit more? Keep reading…)
