Confrontation

Because my drivers license almost expired, I had to go to the
local government office to replace my old one for a new…
I postponed the trip a few times but with only one week of validity left,
I couldn’t ignore it anymore – so yesterday I hopped on my bike to get
an OFFICIAL PHOTO taken.

Eeeekkk, that “official photo” was the reason to postpone the whole thing
in the first place – and not just for any reason…
I don’t know how it is in other countries, but in the Netherlands the photo
on your passport or drivers licence has to comply with certain rules.

So with fear in my heart I cycled to the “official photographer”
(my son offered to take my picture and I’m sure I would have loved
his photo. But no way – it has to be “official”)

And yes, as if the angels were laughing with me, it started to rain
on my way over there…

The count off has begun!

I feel like a rocket since a day or two…. it’s really going to happen!
I claimed my domain name yesterday, my beloved will put up the
basic community site (as soon as the log-in info comes in) and I
will start designing the whole thing, getting to know it and work
with it and learn all the “ins and outs” that go with such a site….
OH MY – it’s gonna be such an exiting adventure I’m diving into!

Since I put my little survey on line, lots of people filled it out!
I thought some would, but I had like 30 reactions in the first two hours…
now THAT’S a boost! Thank you all for filling it out.
You sure know how to make a girl smile!!!
The answers you all gave really help me with my thinking about which
way I want my workshops to go…

On to the regular now… ’cause Lotus Paperie came up with a new challenge.

Here’s the sketch
you have to work
with for this
week’s challenge.

I find it a very
inspirational and
challenging sketch
this time ’cause I
don’t use much
circles on my layouts.

Take a look
at my take…

Me and ribbons?

When I saw the new Lotus Paperie challenge # 147
I thought “OH, NO….”
“Use your ribbon scraps” it says…

Me and ribbons?
Not a good combination!
But hey, I’m a DT-member and I “keep my pecker up”
(that’s what my dictionary says to use in a situation like this –
I hope that’s right ’cause when I looked up “pecker” I got
other images in mind reading this line…)

OK, on to it.
Me and ribbons.
I pulled the ribbon box out of the closet
(it was way in the back!)
I cut pieces of ribbon.
Lots of them.
When I have to use it, I might as well overdo it!

And look what I ended up with…

The One Ring
on Sunday Morning…

I always have to giggle when I make up the titles for my posts!
It just happens so that if I place the titles of my layouts together,
nine out of ten times a new title is born.

Yes, I have two layouts to show you today.
Both made with Harlee Quinnz Designs papers (from two different lines.)

Here’s the first:

The weirdest week!
(and the longest post!)

Sunday Morning, and I experienced the weirdest week…

But before I start telling (and showing) you, I want to give a little
“geographic lesson” ’cause many of you who saw my last layout
thought/asked if I live on an island…
I wrote about that figuratively – no, I don’t live on a real island.
I once did though, so let me show you where all that waves and
beaches in my head come from…

For all you Americans and
Asians (and Africans???)
this is a map of Europe.

I live in the Netherlands.

This is a map of the Netherlands (or Holland, if you like)

As you can see
I spend my childhood
right at the beach.
That province is called
“Zeeland” and it
exist of many islands
connected with each
other by dikes, dams
and bridges – so I lived
on a peninsula.
I don’t live there anymore
(my parents & best friend
still do though) but I love
that place and that’s why
waves roll through my
head, still!
I’m a “Zeeuw”…

Childhood Summer days

Friday again, weeks go faster and faster it seems…
and Summer is almost over.
It’s Autumn (at least the weather is) overhere in the Netherlands –
dark clouds rush through the sky. There’s a strong wind blowing.
Sometimes the low sun shines through a hole in the clouds,
and shines on the trees in the park – the leaves still green
but it won’t take long until the park colours yellow, red and gold.
I can already smell it in the air…
my favourite season is about to start!

Why am I telling this?
Well, I always turn a bit
melancholic in the Fall,
and this Lotus sketch
inspired me to make
a melancholic layout…

(How does it
inspire you?
Play along at
Lotus Paperie
and show us!)

Back in the groove!

Slowly, but steadily, I’m coming back in the groove.
First I finished a page for my “BOM” (Book of Me)
On August 16 the prompt for a new page was about hidden talents.

When I thought about it, I smiled.
Yes, I do have a “hidden talent” and with this page I throw it out in the open…
