Freewheelin’ Friday (#19)

Does your layout ever fail?

Just curious… ’cause although I have “better” and “worse” layouts,
I almost never feel my layout failed completely –
but this week, I did!!!

I promised you a page for my Leonard Cohen art journal (I was half way
when I said that) but…. the page failed miserably!

It was too bad to show, really… so I TORE IT APART!

And look what happened…

Move

Remember my last blogpost?
I wrote about all those Ning-communities starting on the Internet lately.
A few hours after I wrote that post last Friday I received an e-mail from
Rachel, the founder of the “A Year in the Life of an Art Journal” group.
Here is what she wrote:

“I just recently found out that ning will start charging all users who
use the FREE networks, and so we will be moving. I am working to get
all my ning groups moved to Facebook, I’m sorry for this inconvenience…”

So no more ning-groups…

WAIT

…did I read that correctly?

Facebook??!!!

I stayed away from facebook.

I never wanted to join.
I have enough communities and blogs to visit already.
I don’t need more “friends” and chatting…
I don’t have the time.

BUT…

Well. I gave in.
I don’t want to loose my “Art Journal group”

So now I’m on facebook.
*sigh*

Freewheelin’ Friday (#14)

Remember the “to do list” at the end of my former post?
I didn’t do ONE thing from that…
Instead, I decided to focus on the ATC-bags and get them all done before
the weekend so that the sewing machine could be stored upstairs again.

For those
of you
who haven’t
seen the first
“ATC-pouch”
here it is…

I made this
little bag
last week to
store my
“to trade”
ATC cards.

Freewheelin’ Friday (#13)

Alice in Wonderland keeps popping up on several blogs due to the movie,
and you all know that I’m in love with Alice since I participated in the
“Alice Journal Swap” (Haven’t seen the movie yet – it’s released this week
in the Netherlands – but I’m going to see it with my son soon!)

Anyway, I had Alice in mind when I started playing in my art journal…

Walking the yellow brick road

Let’s start with the yellow brick road.

When I looked for a picture of it on the Internet this morning, I not only
found it on a blog – I also read the words accompanying this pic,
written by Vanessa Leigh:

“The yellow brick road,
the road to everywhere
and nowhere at the same
time…. …in my life, there
have been so many paths
that I have taken, ones
that have been yellow
brick roads to my goal,
my pursuit, my dream,
or so I thought at least.
Some of the yellow
brick that I have followed
have been dead ends…
….

….
But, every path was meaning, every brick in those roads was purposeful
and meaningful, and I needed to gain full trust in myself that I knew,
deep within, which way to go. I ALWAYS trust my soul now, no question.

Freewheelin’ Friday (#11)

It’s a grey day over in the Netherlands and the rain comes pouring down…
but it doesn’t bother me much. I feel fine!
After four weeks of “Letting it Loose in my Workshop” the ladies in the
group are still very enthusiastic and it warms my heart and makes me happy!

Because of the shout outs on all their blogs, I got several others asking for this
workshop and so I’m glad to inform you that

the online workshop “Let it Loose” will start again on May 3 and a
new online workshop “A Creative Art Journey” will start on May 7.

Registration is now open and you can find all info in the shop on my website.

I finally finished the art journal page for “A Year in the Life of an Art Journal”
last week. Remember the gel medium transfer of the ultrasound photo of
my son which I transferred onto cloth? I used it!

Zentangling
like a mad woman!

Last week, I discovered “zentangling” (see former post) and I’ve been playing
with it all weekend. Man – I’m hooked! I made 4 ATC’s this weekend and I also
started a mini-journal to be filled with zentangled pages. I’m having a blast!

I’m also happy that I can do this in the evening. I stopped working on art
journals or scrappages at night because of the bad (yellow) lamps we have.
I mean, the lights we have in the evening are nice and cozy but not suitable to
work with colours. The pages always look different the next day so I stopped
working in my art journal in the evening (at least if there’s colour involved)
But these zentanglings are done with a black pen on white (or creme) so in
the evenings I zentangle away! It’s such a relaxing thing to do…
