Life is…

February 28, 2009 By Marit

…GOOD when the postman rings the doorbell to bring you this!

This arrived last Thursday – finally!
I was expecting it for a few weeks already!
It’s the Sassafras kit
I won over at ScrapMojo with my “Christmas lay out”
It took seven (yes, 7) weeks to get here…
but finally I received it
and although some
patterned paper show
Christmas trees and
little reindeer’s, I’m
very happy with it!

This little bundle includes spring-like little papers.
I fell in love with it right away!

Life is…. SPRING

Well, in real life, it isn’t spring yet. But hopes are running high since the sun DID shine for a few minutes this afternoon and the old blackbird couple circles above my back yard again. Maybe I should put signs in my garden to point out the way to the old nest, they seem to look for it but forgot the directions…
They build it last year and raised a couple of tiny little birdies in it which I watched getting flying lessons!
Also, snowdrops and purple crocusses began to bloom next to my front door so I’m telling ya, spring is just around the corner!

Life is…. the WORD of the week over at Scrapping out Loud!

And I could use this word together with this challenge:

“For this week’s challenge we would like you to Tear your papers…and use them on this weeks layout. Remember this is the last week to play for our monthly rak so if you haven’t played yet this month you can still enter by playing and leaving us a comment and a link to your layout by next Monday March 2nd at 9pm. Use this week’s Sketch and Word and you’ll have 3 chances to win!”

Read that last sentence?
I did play all month but, greedy as I am
and closer to the end of the month,
I threw in Jessica’s sketch once again to enlarge my chances!

I made it even more difficult
by challenging myself!
I let my son (I picked a photo of him
to use on this lay out) choose the background paper he liked and I
would work with that….

…and he picked that brown-red-orange paper I had laying around for a couple of years… OOPS! But hey, I challenged myself so I had to go through with it! No givin’ in here!

I think I managed.
I tore paper.
I used the word.
I used the sketch.
I used son’s choosen paper.
It’s quit a simple
lay out.
It’s not the best
I ever made.
(which one
would that be?)
But I’m satisfied.

My 4-challenge LO!

Chipboard alpha’s,
painted ivory white
& coloured the edges
with brown ink.

My son named the words
he wanted to have on this journaling paper.
(He had all the right too,
after all, it’s HIS life
we’re talking about here!)

Paint behind the
journaling paper
gave it just
a little more body.

The striped paper (behind the picture) and these edges come from my new Sassafras kit!!!
(Wanted to use something, ANYTHING,
from my new goodies!)
and I framed
the lay out
with dark red
glitter glue.

OK, so far for this lay out.
I’m working on a bigger project right now and I make pictures along the way, so in a couple of days you might find a tutorial here about how to make a little folded book like this.
But first, I’m gonna make my “blog-surfing-round” ’cause due to computer problems I couldn’t stay online long enough to do that the last couple of days. (My beloved fixed it again! He’s a GENIUS when it comes to computers!)
I missed blog-surfing though, so you might find me hoppin’ by on your own blog today! Have a great weekend! Je t’embrasse!
