Random ramblings
(Freewheelin’ Friday #46)

November 5, 2010 By Marit

I’m late.
It’s Friday night.
I have some random ramblings for you.
About first loves, contemporary assignments and everything in between.

Enjoy!

..

..

Let’s start with first loves.

The first love of a woman – her hero,
“the man to whom every other man will be measured”
is her dad. I’m sure.

But then, there’s a second…
and the second hero in my life was this man

..

Recognize him ladies?

(I’m sure the “older” Dutchies will.)

But you, from abroad –
do not think “I don’t have
to give this guy a closer look
’cause it’s probably a Dutch man
and I don’t know him anyway….”

..

Yes, he’s Dutch.
BUT
he’s famous
around the world!

..

..

And I…
HA – I had a crush on him before you even heard his name!
Right from the very first moment he was on Dutch television (1969)
he was my hero…
My knight – my very first love!
I was 6 years old -but hey, 6 years old have intense feelings!

So take a better look, you Americans!
You might know him!
He made lots and LOTS of American movies!

..

Here’s a photo of the Dutch newspaper from last Thursday.

(and NO, he’s not dead!)

There just was a big article in the newspaper…
about all his movies. About him.
With lots of photos… aaaahhhh!!!

..

Still don’t know?
Here’s a more recent picture.

Blond, blue eyes…
yes, it’s him: Rutger Hauer!

I had a fabulous Thursday!

..

As of today, the new Creatief met Foto’s is available.

It’s the first edition that contains my articles, YAY!!!

I got a copy in the mail today, and look at what’s right on the first page

See that? See that?
THAT’S MY NAME UP THERE!!!!!
As Jenneke put it: “Stoer!” (= something like “COOL”!!!!)

..

As you know, I did quite a lot of work writing articles for this edition, and it’s
great to see it in print! My name is not mentioned with every article I wrote
– it’s only mentioned in the colophon – but here’s a photo of the content of the magazine.

I highlighted (in blue) the articles that I wrote the texts for.

I told you I was very busy in September and I couldn’t visit your blogs
as much as I wanted to – now this sure is evidence of me being busy, isn’t it?!!!

..

And more random things to share:

  • To start: an invitation to my Dutch scrapping friends
Jenneke, Peggy, Jeanet, Petra and I are going to meet each other
in the Scrapbookstore at Heesch November 21st! I’ve never met
these blog friends and I’m very excited to finally meet with the gals
in real life! And…. I would love it if you would come too!!
If you are looking for a fun day out – this is the day!!!
We agreed on meeting each other at 11 am, but we probably will spend
hours and hours talking and shopping, so if you want to join a little
later, that’s fine! For the “diehards” – the women who can’t stop talking
(Hi Peggy!) or won’t say goodbye… we were thinking of having diner
in a small restaurant. (And of course, to my foreign friends – if you
can afford it, you are invited too!!
  • I got an email from Michelle this morning. A short one.
This is what she wrote: “Have you seen this? Look what’s right in the
middle of the page…” WOWZAH!!! I’m flattered!!!
  • Another email this morning: from Seth from the Altered Page.
He personally invited me to submit for the call he’s having
on his blog. He’s going to make a book and the last sentence in the email
said: “I am writing to you directly because I would love to have your
voice and your art in my book” I think I grew 5 inches at the spot when
I read that! Such an honour to be invited by an artist like Seth!
But, sweeties, it is an open call and you are ALL invited to submit to
“The Artist’s Pulse” – The Book. You can read all about it in this post
  • And, last but not least, Thinkie (you know, the girl I know from
blogging and met IRL a couple of weeks ago) had a link on her blog
to a “visboek” (“fishing book). It’s a sort of logbook started by a
Dutchman called Adriaen Coenensz in 1577!!! I’m sure the man
never heard of “art journaling” but it is just that!!! It’s very inspiring
and I based my weekly art journal page for this week on his designs!
My pages are not finished yet, I show it to you next week, but you
can take a look at the fishbook here – Oh, and for you non-dutchies:
click on “Blader in het visboek” – the second dot – and you can browse
    through the pages!)
  • And, for the Dutchies only: there are already 8 ladies wanting
to participate in an “all Dutch Let it Loose workshop”! YAY!
We start on January 10, 2011 and there’s room for more students.
If you want to join, or know someone who might be interested:
all info can be found on my website. Spread the word!!!

..

Pfew – was this freewheelin’ or not?
Thanks for stopping by again, my friends!
I really appriciate you visiting my little place and leaving comments!
Enjoy your Friday, enjoy your weekend and keep on creating!

Je t’embrasse!
