Whimsical week

September 28, 2010 By Marit

When I look back on last week I can hardly believe this all happened in just
a few days… I took a photo of my weekly art journal page just now and it
contains photos that I feel were taken a Month ago. Was it really just last week
that I met Thinkie? Some weeks just simmer and then there comes a week
in which so many things happen. Good things this time! The week flew by!

..

..

To begin with the last days of the week: my parents visited us last weekend.
We had a marvelous time! Lots of talking and laughing and relaxing and eating
and drinking (they brought wine from France!)

Nout was with his dad but he came to see “opa & oma” on Sunday morning.
Ofcourse we had to take a picture!

He outgrew us all!

And see my hedge? Yep, it’s brown.
My dad and I trimmed it a Month ago.
We cut off about 30 inch (75 cm) and ofcourse it was all brown underneath.
I know, I should have trimmed it earlier… but at least I have more space
in my little backyard now! The green will come back eventually.

..

And here’s the weekly art journal page from last week.

Week 38

Thinkie gave me that little card with the Tolkien ring.
From reading my blog she knows I wear the same ring.
I thought it was the sweetest little gesture! Thanks Thinkie!

You already saw the boxes in my office in my former post.

I added one of the two ATC’s I made (I always make two.
One for me and one for swaps. If you want to swap ATC’s,
take a look at the cards in the gallery in the top menu and
let me know)

I also added an image of a bird.
That’s because a blackbird surprised me last week.
I was busy hanging the laundry in the yard when I saw this.

(I found this photo on the Internet,
I didn't have my camera with me when I saw him.)

..

..

A blackbird sat on the ground,
just a few inches from where I
was standing. At first I though
he had a marble in his beak.
I talked to him that he shouldn’t
steel marbles from little kids.
He dropped the thing immediately.

He sat still and looked at me
as if he wanted to say:
“Woman, mind your own business!”.
Then he picked up the marble
(I really thought it was a marble!)
and flew into our pergola.

..

..

I followed him with my eyes and
– you guessed it already –
I saw a bunch of grapes hanging
from the pergola.
What the …????

Now you must know we have a little
scrub of a grape plant. I planted it next
to the backdoor, but it wouldn’t grow.
The kiwi plant, however, sprout and
grew and covered the whole pergola
surface.

After a good look I discovered that,
despite the few leaves at the bottom,
the grape grew on top of the kiwi
and formed grapes. I hardly look up
so I never noticed it before.

..

OK. Wow. So we had two bunches of grapes!

And then my parents came.
I told them the story and showed my mom “our two grapes”
She looked a bit further though, and discovered that there had been
LOTS and LOTS of bunches!!! The blackbirds ate them all!!!
Imagine all the nibbling they did right under my nose!
(Uuhmm, ABOVE my nose actually!)

We saved the two remaining bunches and ate them before
the blackbirds would. Ha!
I’ll be on the watch next year!

..

I want to say just a few more things.
This post is getting pretty long so I’ll make it short.

  • I wanted to let you know that two lovely ladies, Theresa and Lea,
have started a challenge blog called “Scrapbookers Anonymous”.
They are having a DT call right now so if you’re in for a new challenge
or want to be a member of a Design Team, check it out here.
(Good luck with this new adventure Theresa!)
  • Theresa is one of the students in the “Let it Loose” group that
I’m teaching right now. It’s a nice group of talented ladies
and I have permission to publish some of their work in the
    Public Gallery on my website.
  • Only a month to go before the workshop “Mixed Emotion” starts.
Michelle and I are working our butts off to get everything done!
You can register here and we are planning to show you a sneak
peek next week! That’s a promise!

And that’s it folks!
See you next Friday!

Je t’embrasse.
