“What would you do if you ruled the world? Would you sit on a throne and wear a crown? Would you make everyone walk backwards? Maybe it isn’t this world at all…Maybe it is a made up world. We want to see a page telling us what you would do if you ruled the world. The second part of the challenge is to use stars. This challenge was inspired by many many things. I hope it inspires you to create something fabulous.”<\/em><\/p>\n

This was the challenge over at ScrapMojo – and yes, it inspired me…\u00a0
\n(I\u00a0hesitate if the ultimate result still fits the challenge though. I think so,

In the eighties I studied painting\/handcrafts\/textural arts. In the last year of\u00a0that study\u00a0I was expected to choose a theme on which all\u00a0my graduation work should be based.\u00a0I chose\u00a0“Lord of the Rings” by J.R.R. Tolkien. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

That year, I was under the spell of Hobbits and Elves. Frodo, Legolas, Aragorn, even Nazgul\u00a0were part of my graduation exhibition in 1989.<\/span><\/p>\n

The story aroused interest all over the world again in 2000, when Peter Jackson\u00a0adapted the book for the screen. At that time, I found this golden
\n“One Ring” at a jeweller. Though my student days were way behind me, I bought the ring with the Elvish language\/poem (using all my saving money)
\nto close a certain period of my life. I wear it ever since, and never take it off. <\/span><\/p>\n

Of course, the ring doesn’t\u00a0give me\u00a0the same powers as in the story: to rule over good and evil. And that’s a good thing, ’cause I don’t wish to “bind someone in darkness” at all! But I still DO rule my own fantasy-world!’<\/span><\/p>\n

I don’t have much art left from that time; most of it was very fragile and
\ndidn’t survive the several moving houses since then… but I\u00a0still have photo’s and drawings, so I can look it up and post\u00a0some pictures\u00a0in a couple of days (that is, if you’re interested at all… let me know if you are!)<\/p>\n
