I had planned a weekend full of scrapping time for myself, but life doesn’t always follow your plans, does it? On Saturday, very early in the morning,
\nI was waked by the phone (and everybody knows that when the phone rings that early and that long, it’s gonna be sad and frightening news…) My brother called me from Canada (he lives there with his family) to tell me his daughter Lisa (my niece, she’s 17 years old) had been in\u00a0a car accident and was very badly injured…<\/p>\n

It wasn’t yet very clear what\u00a0injuries\u00a0she had\u00a0at that time but now, two days later, we know a lot more and briefly this is it:<\/p>\n

Sad news,<\/p>\n

Lisa was involved in a serious car crash Friday afternoon, and is in a serious condition in The Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg
\nIt’s not life threatening anymore, but she will be in hospital for a long time. She got a broken neck, broken back, fractured elbow, her arm and wrist are broken and a couple minor injuries. The doctors say she will recover 100%, but it will take a long time.<\/em><\/p>\n

I didn’t do much for the rest of the weekend…<\/p>\n

\nOn Saturday I went into town with my beloved, just to have our minds set on something else for a while, and I bought me this book. I read it as a child (in Dutch) of course, but now that I’m\u00a0starting a “Journal Circle Swap” over at SIStv (together\u00a0with “Hot Mama” Bree) about Alice in Wonderland\u00a0\u00a0I thought I read the complete story again in the original language…<\/p>\n

The book\u00a0comes with\u00a0the original illustrations, and I got inspired right away! (M. just loves the cover illustration, he says it looks like\u00a0having a trip being on LSD. Well, I wouldn’t know that, but he was a teenager in the sixties so I believe him!)\u00a0Anyway, I will be reading and working “with Alice” soon! (Reading will be tough tho, I definitely have to use a dictionary! My knowledge of the English language\u00a0is not bad at all but this is something else!)<\/p>\n

Today I finally felt like finishing the lay out I started on Friday. It’s the first page of my new Art Journal, which will be about the songs of Leonard Cohen.
\nI torn the pages out of an old book, glued two of them together to make it thicker and used gesso on it as a primer before it was ready for further use.<\/p>\n

This first page is about the song “Dance Me to the End of Love”
\nBecause I used paint on this page, it can go with the challenge of Scrapping out LOUD! (which was: use paint somewhere on your page<\/em>)<\/p>\n

\nI used spray ink (well, not really. I put some alcohol ink and some ecoline – I think that’s a Dutch thing, a sort of ink – in a spray bottle and until I lay my hands on the real stuff<\/a>
\nI will use this) and acrylic paint to make the border.<\/p>\n

\nAnd I sewed again ’cause the image could do with “something extra”.
\n(It looks a bit like\u00a0the shadow of the dancing couple.)<\/p>\n

So I’m back on track now…. sort of.
\nBut I decided to stop myself whenever I want to participate in\u00a0challenges going on… I know I want to do them all every week but I just can’t do that. I’m neglecting my own wishes by wanting to participate in everything, and I just have too much other things in (and on) my mind at the moment (and then there’s still also “our business to run” you know”!) My intentions are to\u00a0work on the Art Journal and try to weekly participate in the one challenge blog my heart is going out to: Scrapping out LOUD! Then read “Alice in Wonderland” and maybe start that Journal Swap (I do hope there will be more participants signing in!) or play with Alice myself.<\/p>\n

And maybe, just maybe apply for a DT spot somewhere…<\/p>\n

And maybe, just maybe throw in another challenge whenever I have the time and feel like playing.<\/p>\n

So those are my goals for now.
\nLet’s see where\u00a0it gets me.<\/p>\n
