\n“geographic lesson” ’cause many of you who saw my last layout<\/a>
\nthought\/asked if I live on an island…
\nI wrote about that figuratively – no, I don’t live on a real island.
\nI once did though, so let me show you where all that waves and
\nbeaches in my head come from…<\/p>\n
I live in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0This is a map of the Netherlands (or Holland, if you like)<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Now that this is cleared, I’ll tell you about the rollercoaster days I lived It started on Wednesday.It was going to be a lovely day as my parents \u00a0<\/p>\n That morning, And later on \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n And there was a parcel from my brother and sister-in-law, with some And then my parents arrived.<\/p>\n It was so nice to see them! But it changed soon… ’cause my dad told us My dad got home alright, although the last half hour he had to drive with just They were send to the nearest hospital (for you Dutchies, in Vlissingen) \u00a0<\/p>\n On Friday Morning (I was “home alone” and worried) a package arrived. By “Artsyk” (she made a basic page and included some embellies for By Linda Loe<\/p>\n By Casey (“mmmomx2”)<\/p>\n \u00a0 \u00a0By Helen (“CherryBlossom”)<\/p>\n By Bree (“HotMama”)<\/p>\n \u00a0 It turned out to be \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Emotional as I was that day, it moved me to tears… To fill the time on Friday, I played with my Art Journal\u00a0and made this page.<\/p>\n It’s for the ScrapMojo challenge, which was:\u00a0“We want you to scrap a page I’d planned to do this and I thought now was the time to start with it. Journaling is in Dutch: And can you believe I never stamped with bubble wrap plastic\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n Pfew, so those were some rollercoaster days!!! I won’t bother you any longer… this post is way too long as it is. \nI spend my childhood\u00a0
\nright at the beach.
\nThat province is called
\n“Zeeland” and it
\nexist of many islands
\nconnected with each
\nother by dikes, dams
\nand bridges – so I lived
\non a peninsula.
\nI don’t live there anymore
\n(my parents & best friend
\nstill do though) but I love
\nthat place and that’s why
\nwaves roll through my
\nhead, still!
\nI’m a\u00a0“Zeeuw”…<\/p>\n
\nthrough last week…<\/p>\n
\nwere come to visit, on their way home from France (they had been

\nhe had something strange with his right eye going on since Tuesday –
\nhe has troubles with his eyes since a few years, but a spot had
\nappeared in his eye (for him only to see)\u00a0 – at first, it was a tiny little
\n“blur spot” but\u00a0ever since it appeared\u00a0it was\u00a0growing bigger AND it turned
\ninto\u00a0pink\/reddish\/darker – In the two hours that they were here\u00a0it grew
\nso they decided to drive home (2 hours drive) before the “spot” would have
\ninfected his whole eye and he couldn’t see anymore.<\/p>\n
\none-eye-sight –\u00a0the spot in his right eye had grown too big and he couldn’t
\nsee anymore –\u00a0my mum had to “tell him how to steer”… scary!
\nHe called me when they got home on Wednesday night, and\u00a0I told him to go see
\na doctor right away, but he lives in a very small village and had to go
\n– by car again – to see another doctor then (because it was evening already)
\nand he didn’t feel like doing that. Oh, he’s so stubborn you know!
\nHe would go see his own doctor early in the next\u00a0morning, he said.
\nand then he would call again, he said.
\n\u00a0
\nThursdaymorning\u00a0I waited. And waited.
\nI\u00a0presumed their doctor had send him right to the hospital and that would be
\nthe reason for him not calling.\u00a0I was right. my mum called at 11.30 am.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\nThe specialist\u00a0ascertened that his retina loosened at the back of his eye
\n(and that the process still was going on)\u00a0– \u00a0he had to go to a specialized
\nhospital (in Rotterdam) right away to get surgery – and maybe they could
\nsave (part of) his sight then. Since he couldn’t drive anymore (just got
\nhome again with his one eye) he had to call a cab.\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nWhen my mum called, he was on his way to Rotterdam.
\n(She wasn’t with him ’cause they didn’t know if he had to stay the night there,
\nand she would only sit there waiting and maybe even had to find a hotel if my
\ndad would have to stay the night over) so she waited at home.
\nAs did we.
\n\u00a0
\nAt 5 pm my mum called again. The hospital had phoned her that my dad
\nwas out of surgery, still “sleeping”, but that they would phone the same
\ncab-company to pick him up and bring him home that same evening.
\nAnd that he had to come back tomorrow (Friday) for a check up….
\n\u00a0
\nThat’s 2 hours in a cab back home – and the next day again 2 hours to
\nRotterdam and 2 hours back home – and the insurance company said they
\nwouldn’t pay that “cause you have one eye left so you can still see”
\nMy mum went a bit crazy (it’s 200 euro for one drive….) and so we\u00a0
\ndecided to drive up to Zeeland that Thursday night. I stayed at home with
\nmy son (he has to go to school) and my beloved drove to Zeeland so
\nhe would be there when my dad arrived and he could drive him\u00a0to his
\ncheck up appointment the next day.
\n\u00a0
\nMy beloved was there at 9 pm – and my dad arrived shortly after.
\nThey called that all was well,\u00a0my dad\u00a0wasn’t in any pain and relieved
\nthat something was done about it.\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nThe next day (Friday – yesterday)\u00a0my beloved\u00a0drove my dad to Rotterdam
\nagain. 2 hours drive and within\u00a05 minutes he was in and out of the
\ndoctors office….. to go home again.
\nAh, well. The doctor told him all was well for now.\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nHis sight might come back. Maybe less then it was. We’ll have to wait and see,
\nbut chances are good. For now, he’s almost blind at his right eye, but since
\nSaturday,\u00a0there’s a little light coming in… good thing!<\/p>\n
