Friday… weekend’s just around the corner and the holiday season’s begun.
\nWell, here in\u00a0my street it is. Our neighbours across the street sprayed
\n(fake) snow on their windows – all kinds of Christmas bells and stars.
\nThey draped little lights all around\u00a0the window, and outside in their small
\ngarden they put lights in the even smaller bushes.
\nCompared to\u00a0you, Americans, this is nothing but for Dutch standards,
\nit’s quite exuberant.<\/p>\n

As you maybe know, I don’t decorate much with Christmas.
\nMaybe a few extra candles (I happen to have them in the house all year!
\nI love candles!) So hooray for the neighbours!
\nIf I start to long for Christmas lights, I just look out my windows.
\nAnd if I’m sick of it, I close the shutters. Easy peasy!<\/p>\n

Where was I going by telling you this… ? Oh, yes, the holidays.
\nI started talking about it ’cause the challenge at “These Are A Few
\nOf My Favorite Things<\/a>” was to scrap about your favourite holiday.
\nI (DON’T) have one…<\/p>\n

Before I show you the layout, I will\u00a0publish the journaling.
\nIt will be more clear what this layout is all about…<\/p>\n

Journaling:
\n<\/strong>I don’t care much for holidays. Easter, my birthday, Sinterklaas…
\nI don’t pay much attention to it and I don’t “celebrate”.
\nEven Christmas goes by\u00a0like any other day –\u00a0but I always look forward
\nto the\u00a0moment right after Christmas: the Top 2000 on the radio!
\nOur radio stays tuned to “radio 2” and plays from (early) in the morning
\n’till (late) at night! We always\u00a0take the (long) list out of the paper.
\nEvery song title and time of broadcasting is\u00a0on it, and that list\u00a0lays
\non the dining table all week.\u00a0We play our own games with it.
\n“Don’t look – what is the next song and who’s playing it…<\/em>”
\nI win most of the times. It’s crazy, the amount of songs I have lingering
\nin my mind. Not just the title… no, I can sing them all! But that’s because
\nmost songs on the list are from my youth – music of the sixties and
\nseventies. One week a\u00a0year it’s all about sentiment, ending with the
\napotheosis:\u00a0top 2000\u00a0music clips\u00a0on television\u00a0on New Years eve…
\n…and a glass of\u00a0bubbles at midnight!<\/span><\/p>\n

Used materials: Background: the \"top 2000 list\" from the paper of a few\r\nyears back (yes, I saved it!) Acrylic paint, oil crayons, white gel pen,\r\nsheet music (thank you Ronda!)and black gel pen (handwritten journaling)\r\nThe image is a collage: body from a model (cut out of a fashion magazine)\r\nphoto of my own face, headphones from another magazine and I draw the eyes\r\nand painted the hair with acrylic paint and puffy paint.<\/pre>\n
So here’s my favourite “holiday-week”\u00a0and this year Christmas Day will be
\nadded too! Because of the amount of long songs in the list (and they want
\nto play them all!) the broadcast station decided to start on Christmas Day
\n(12 pm) instead of the day after…
\nYeaaaahhhh,\u00a0finally Christmas is gonna be a celebration for me too!!!<\/p>\n

ANNOUNCEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n
In the “Top 2000 week” (December 25 – 31) I\u00a0will make\/publish one
\nlayout\u00a0every day,\u00a0refering to\u00a0a song from the Top 2000 that will be
\nbroad casted on the radio\u00a0that day! It can be a 12×12, an art journal page,
\nan ATC or whatever I feel like making.<\/span><\/p>\n
Everybody is invited to play along with me!<\/span><\/p>\n
The list with songs, times\u00a0and dates will be published in the papers and
\non the Internet on\u00a0December 22nd. (I will put up the link on my blog)<\/span><\/p>\n
Just e-mail me\u00a0a photo of your work\u00a0(in your mail, please name\u00a0song title and
\ndate\/number in the top 2000 list) and I will publish it on my blog on the day
\nthat song is playing,\u00a0with your name and a link to your blog (if you like)<\/span><\/p>\n
This is not only for Dutchies! If you want to play along, you’re very welcome!
\nThe songs can be heard from December 25th ’til 31st, in the Netherlands on
\nradio 2 and (for internationals) on the Internet. <\/span><\/p>\n
I’m looking forward to this “event” and hope you will play along!<\/span><\/p>\n
I’m gonna light me some candles now, have me another cup of coffee
\nand go “freewheeling” today… after all, it’s Friday!
\nI might play with my art journal for a change… it feels like a day to do that!
