{"id":6916,"date":"2010-01-08T12:55:49","date_gmt":"2010-01-08T11:55:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/old-blog\/?p=6916"},"modified":"2025-09-19T12:58:40","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T10:58:40","slug":"freewheelin-friday-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/old-blog\/freewheelin-friday-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Freewheelin&#8217; Friday (#4)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last two Fridays it was all about the top 2000 and New Year<br \/>\n(can you believe that was only one week ago?)\u00a0but as of today<br \/>\nI&#8217;m picking up the &#8220;Freewheelin&#8217; Fridays&#8221; again.<\/p>\n<p>So here&#8217;s to\u00a0random chitchat and some inspiration&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I start my mornings with black coffee, a cigarette and the morning paper,<br \/>\nand today&#8217;s paper surprised me with an article about schizophrenia&#8230;<br \/>\nnot the text itself caught my eye, but the\u00a0illustration that came with it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/old-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/01_adolf_wolfli.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6918\" title=\"01_adolf_wolfli\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/old-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/01_adolf_wolfli.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"379\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This is a drawing made in 1915 by the Swiss (schizophrenic) artist Adolf W\u00f6lfli,<br \/>\nand I surfed the Internet looking for information about him. I came across this:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;W\u00f6lfli is the poster child of the Outsider Art movement. This guy had it all;<br \/>\na troubled childhood, a history of abuse, and broken homes.<br \/>\nHe was institutionalized in 1895 to the Waldau Clinic in Berne, Switzerland.<br \/>\nHe was very disturbed and sometimes violent leading to him being kept in<br \/>\nisolation for his early time at hospital. In isolation he began to have intense<br \/>\nhallucinations. Shortly after this he began to draw.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I found this text\u00a0&#8211; along with some other gorgeous images &#8211; on the blog of\u00a0<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.katyelliott.com\/old-blog\/2008\/02\/adolf-wolfli.html\" target=\"_blank\">Katy Elliott<\/a>\u00a0but if you google on &#8220;Adolf W\u00f6lfli&#8221; you&#8217;ll find a lot more&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/old-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/02_adolf_wolfli.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-6921\" title=\"02_adolf_wolfli\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/old-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/02_adolf_wolfli-214x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"214\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\n&#8230; like this page!<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I fell in love with the way he uses music notes in his art.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/old-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/03_adolf_wolfli.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-6922\" title=\"03_adolf_wolfli\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/old-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/03_adolf_wolfli-300x207.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"207\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Adolf_W%C3%B6lfli\" target=\"_blank\">Wikipedia<\/a> said<br \/>\nthis about it:\u00a0<br \/>\n&#8220;<em>His images also<br \/>\nincorporated an<br \/>\nidiosyncratic<br \/>\nmusical notation.<br \/>\nThis notation<br \/>\nseemed to start<br \/>\nas a purely<br \/>\ndecorative affair<br \/>\nbut later developed <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><br \/>\ninto real composition which he would play on a paper trumpet.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8230; I&#8217;m still flabbergasted by this guy and his art!<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On to some things that came in the mail in the Christmas (top 2000) week<br \/>\nand I haven&#8217;t showed you yet.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0September, I joined an ATC-swap at SIStv.\u00a0Everyone\u00a0made ATC&#8217;s themed<br \/>\non where they live. In 3 hours time he has to<br \/>\ndraw a self portrait.\u00a0He is allowed to use a mirror and a photo as an example.<br \/>\nYesterday I made some portrait photo&#8217;s\u00a0for him to use &#8211; and he&#8217;s in the<br \/>\nmiddle of his exam &#8220;as we speak&#8221; (Good luck hon! No worries, you&#8217;re drawings\u00a0<br \/>\nare always fabulous so you can do this too!)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/old-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/07_foto_nout.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-6926\" title=\"07_foto_nout\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/old-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/07_foto_nout-204x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"204\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\nHe didn&#8217;t<br \/>\ntake this\u00a0<br \/>\nphoto with<br \/>\nhim to<br \/>\nschool<br \/>\n(too many<br \/>\nshadows)<br \/>\nbut I think<br \/>\nit&#8217;s (<strong>HE<\/strong>&#8216;s)<br \/>\ngorgeous!<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/old-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/08_foto_marit.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-6927\" title=\"08_foto_marit\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/old-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/08_foto_marit-214x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"214\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAnd of course<br \/>\nhe wanted to<br \/>\ntake a photo<br \/>\nof me&#8230;<br \/>\nI edited this<br \/>\none a lot tho!<br \/>\nPlayed with<br \/>\nthe contrast<br \/>\nand highlights<br \/>\n&#8217;cause floodlight<br \/>\non a 46 year old<br \/>\nskin&#8230; mwaaahhh!<br \/>\nI didn&#8217;t know<br \/>\nmy wrinkles<br \/>\nwere that deep!<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And have you heard of <a href=\"http:\/\/oneyearartjournal.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">A Year in the Life of an Art Journal<\/a><br \/>\nI found out about this last year. Michelle played along and uploaded<br \/>\nmarvelous pages every two weeks&#8230; but I found it too late to join in so<br \/>\nI waited for this year to start. I was very surprised to hear they have<br \/>\nguest hosts this year, and two of my favourite scrapgirls and friends<br \/>\nare host &#8211; Wohweee! Congrats <a href=\"http:\/\/somewhereovertherainbowunicornsdream.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Glenda<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/inspirationeverywhere.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Michelle<\/a><\/p>\n<p>And\u00a0on to the weekend! What are your plans???<br \/>\nI&#8217;m going to test my online community one last time (together with beloved)<br \/>\nand I hope to know all the &#8220;ins and outs&#8221; of it by the time my workshop<br \/>\ngoes online.
