When I woke up last Wednesday morning – it was still early –\u00a0 I decided
\nto give myself a “day off.” Oooh, it felt so good!
\nI did the grocery shopping early in the morning, and I even let a man
\nwith his one gallon of milk precede at the pay desk when he asked me to…
\nwell, “asked” is\u00a0not the right\u00a0word ’cause he was deaf and spoke with that
\nstrange voice deaf people do… he didn’t even speak really – he just tapped
\nme on the shoulder, pointed at his milk and roared “Me, now?”
\nI usually dislike people who use their handicap to get things done from\u00a0others
\nbut I was in such a good mood…<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Even\u00a0the snow couldn’t spoil my day!
\nI put on my big boots (2 Lbs each!)\u00a0a thick winter coat, my gloves and a shawl
\nand took the bus into town. I almost danced (almost… I didn’t very well with
\nboots that heavy) to my favourite store… the “artists store”.
\nBecause\u00a0the “Design Academy” houses in Eindhoven,\u00a0this city has a big store
\nfor artists and it sells just about anything your heart desires!
\nPaper, paint and lots and lots of other stuff you better not lay your eyes
\non or you’ll come home with a bag full of\u00a0materials and an empty purse.<\/p>\n

I bought me the most wonderful aquarelle paper and some chipboard to make
\na new art journal to start the “Artful Amblings” in. (I participate in\u00a0
\nA Year in the Life of an Art Journal<\/a>) And of course –\u00a0I couldn’t help myself –\u00a0
\nI bought two amazing journaling pens. One black pen (“Stylo refill”)\u00a0contains
\nreally black ink\u00a0and I’m totally in love with the way it writes. (it’s not a
\npermanent marker though, it’s not fit to use on painted backgrounds)
\nWhen I asked the store employee about white markers, she got all enthusiastic
\nabout one particular\u00a0brand (the people working in that store are all artists
\nthemselves)\u00a0so I had to buy that one too – she was very persuading \ud83d\ude09
\nIt’s a “Marabu – brilliant painter”\u00a0and it’s not ink but paint in there… you have
\nto shake and pump to get the paint running, but the effect is amazing!<\/p>\n

I went home at the end of the afternoon.\u00a0
\nComing out of the store, I\u00a0zipped my coat too high and\u00a0injured my lip
\n(yes, it was that cold and the\u00a0zipper goes that high!) There was blood, but\u00a0
\nthe nice lady in\u00a0the store\u00a0had packed my\u00a0precious paper in plastic so no
\ndamage was done there. I\u00a0dapped my lip with a paper towel and the freezing
\ncold made\u00a0the bleeding stop.\u00a0The bus was over crowded because of the bad
\nweather (it had started to snow again) and\u00a0the bus driver was cantankerous.
\nHe drove too fast and hit the breaks too\u00a0heavy which made the people in the
\nbus swing and fall on each others lap… but you know what?\u00a0
\nI still was in a good mood!<\/p>\n

When I came home, my beloved poured me a glass of wine and then gave me
\nthe big box that arrived in the mail when I was away… OH MY GOSH!!!
\nIt was the prize I won over at Scrap {a} Tale<\/a><\/p>\n

\nmy eyes! Thank

I started making my art journal the next morning.
\nI cut the aquarelle sheets in\u00a012 pieces and folded those in half,\u00a0which left me
\nwith 24 pages of 9 x 10 inch (23 x 25 cm) for the 24 prompts to come.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\nI tore some pages
\n(about art) out of
\nan old encyclopedia
\nto cover the
\nchipboard.
\nThe title is sprayed\u00a0
\nusing my Tim Holtz
\nalphabet mask.
\nI took my favourite
\nalpha stamps to
\nstamp the subtitle,
\nand coloured the
\nletters with markers.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\u00a0
\nThe back of\u00a0the
\njournal\u00a0looks
\nsimilar: a bit of
\nspraying and my
\nname stamped.
\nI used chipboard
\nnumbers that
\ncame in Kimberly’s
\nparcel to add 2010.
\nThis journal will last
\nthe whole year!<\/p>\n
