I made this page for prompt two of A Year in the Life of an Art Journal.<\/a><\/p>\n

This prompt came from Guest Host Glenda<\/a> and she gave us the word
\n“Hope” to work with. *sigh* I don’t have much with that word (or it’s
\nmeaning) and I put this prompt aside for a while.
\nAs the week moved on, I thought about it from time to time, turning the
\nword over and over in my head and asking myself “do I have hope?”
\nAnd than I came across song lyrics from a band I love: The Dixie Chicks.<\/p>\n

And that was it. Yes, I do have hope in my life!
\nI even made it my word for this year: “Smile!”
\nThe blockade dissolved and I created this page.<\/p>\n

I used acrylic paint and black, white and colour markers for the\r\nmosaic border. The sitting lady is made by using a photo as \"basic\"\r\nand add patterned paper over her dress and jacket.\r\nI painted the head myself with watercolour paint.<\/pre>\n
It’s the first time I try something like this, using a painted head I mean, and
\nit’s not perfect but I like it. It needs some more practice I guess, but adding
\ndrawn faces to photos is definitely something I’d like to use more.
\nI’m much into collage these days!<\/p>\n

It’s a cold and grey day in the Netherlands, but compared to all you American
\nfriends having snow blizzards and all, I won’t complain. My door still opens and
\nelectricity works… I hope you all stay save and warm out there and I wish you
\na wonderful week! See you on Friday!<\/p>\n
