This workshop will loosen you up and take you a step further in creating your own, unique art journal pages.
You’ll learn some basic writing techniques to improve your journaling and you will get tips and techniques to use your own handwriting (You dislike your own handwriting? You might be surprised what you can do with it!)
Furthermore, you will learn art techniques like working with collages, paint, colours, gesso and gel medium.
You will be provided with a “basic supply list” but please note: we don’t want you to have to go buy a lot for this workshop. You probably have most of the materials in your stash! Alternatives for the used materials will be pointed out on the list and in the lessons.

Twelve written lessons with photo’s and instruction videos will show you what you need to know to get started, challenge you to think outside the box, step away from your comfort zone and take your art a step further. This is your opportunity to learn new approaches to self expression. You will create at least 10 art journal pages which you will bind together with a special binding technique. You will end up with your own unique selfmade book.

“Let it Loose” includes:

• 12 lessons with assignments in pdf format – available in English and Dutch.
• Each lesson will focus on writing and/or art techniques using all kinds of topics and challenges. Techniques will be clearly showed through photo’s or demonstrated on video. Both beginners and advanced art journalers will find pleasure in working with the lessons.

If you love art journaling and are eager to learn some art history along the way, this is the workshop for you! In 12 lessons you will be introduced to 12 different art periods in time. Each lesson concentrates on a specific art period, handling the characteristics and showing the artists and highlights. Every lesson comes with multiple prompts – inspired by the specific period/art – from which you can choose which one suites you best.

You will learn about Ancient art, Renaissance, Impressionism, Cubism and others.

There’s no need to buy special supplies for this workshop: you’ll use what you have from your stash and work however you like best. It can be an art journal (book, paper), 12 x 12 paper or digital. Small or big – everything is possible!

Here’s your chance to increase your basic knowledge of art history and create unique pages or lay outs inspired by all kinds of artists from different periods.

“A Creative Art Journey” includes:

• 12 lessons with assignments in pdf format – available in English and Dutch.

You will create a minimum of 10 art journal pages together with a matching folder to store your work.

Art journaling focuses on putting your personal thoughts and emotions on paper and you don’t always have to use words to do that! Even if you’re not much of a writer you can create meaningful art journal pages because an emotion can be expressed through a photograph, a color, a material or a particular technique. In this workshop we will explore one specific emotion each lesson, and take that emotion as the basis to create a personal art journal page. What does each specific emotion mean to you? You are encouraged to explore your inner world and your perception of your emotions and turn them into art journal pages. Each lesson also explains a different technique, step-by-step, through photos or an instructional video. The techniques are consistent with the emotion.

Techniques include gel medium photo transfer, paper weaving, writing meaningful journaling, using paint on the page etc. Inspiration videos stuffed with art, layouts, quotes and music will help to get the ideas flowing and set the creative process in motion. The lessons also contain printable collage sheets with photos, quotes and images for you to use in your work. You are challenged to explore your inner self and take a step further in your creativity. This is your opportunity to learn new approaches to self-expression.

“Mixed Emotions” includes:

• 12 lessons with assignments in pdf format. Each lesson will focus on a specific emotion and an art technique that goes with it. Techniques will be clearly shown through photos or demonstrated on video. Both beginners and advanced art journalers will find pleasure in working with the lessons.
• Access to inspirational videos to inspire you and help your creative juices flow.
• Extra printable collage sheets with photos, illustrations and quotes to use in your work.
• Access to a private group discussion forum where you may share, ask questions and interact with the teachers and other class participants. (Access will be activated a few days before the workshop starts or within 24 hours of payment.)

Materials to bring with you:

An art journal to work in**, markers and pens of choice, soft pencil (for example, 2B,) scissors, glue (a glue stick is sufficient) and multiple (at least 3) on plain paper printed b/w photos/portraits (‘postcard’ size, 10 x 15 cm)

• heavy weight watercolor paper for pages
• Tools & supplies to either glue or bind your journal
• Mixed Media materias such as acrylic paint, watercolor paint, watersoluble crayons, collage images & magazines, transfer paper, mod podge, small stamps etc.)
• Additional ephemera
• Extra (beneficial) tools & materials such as brushes, glue etc.

Materials to bring with you:

Soft (B – 2B) graphite pencils & eraser, paint brushes (primarily small brushes,) permanent markers and pens of your choice (at least black and white) scissors, glue (preferably a glue stick.) Although ephemera is provided I recommend you bring some of your own. A journal gets more personal when you use your own images and stuff like postal stamps, tickets, grocery notes, paper scraps etc. Be sure you have it in small sizes.

• An old book with hard cover
• Supplies & materials to alter and bind the book into a ‘new’ journal
• Mixed Media materials & supplies (paint, ink, watersoluble crayons, collage-images etc.)
• Extra (beneficial) tools & materials such as paint rollers, brushes, glue, heat gun etc.

Things to bring with you:

Permanent markers and pens of your choice (at least a black and a white marker,) scissors, glue (preferably a strong gluestick) and, if you have one, a heatgun. You are free to bring more of your own (preferred) materials with you, but it’s not a must.

• Acrylic paint
• Gelli-plate
• Dylusions spray ink
• Various templates
• Paper A5 (180 gr. quality paper)
• A large amount of cut-out texts (words and phrases in Dutch and/or English)

Things to bring with you:

Pens, pencils and permanent markers of your choice (but at least a black and a white marker,) scissors, glue (preferably a strong gluestick) and, if you have one, a heatgun.

Creating with paint and spray ink can be messy. I suggest you put on old clothes or take an apron with you, to not ruin your clothes.
