… that I gave birth to a little baby boy…
… and when did this happen? Did he grow overnight? Did I blink?
Today, my son is 19 years old!

A memorial
Last Sunday it was 40 years ago that Jim Morrison died (you know,
the lead singer of the Doors). I made this ‘tribute’. It’s the first page
in my ‘album cover folded book’
(30,5 x 30,5 cm - 12 x 12 inch)
The background is pattern scrapbook paper. The face is drawn with a black
marker. I stamped the text and used distress embossing powder (Tim Holtz)
to make it stand out more. A little bit of distress ink (‘vintage photo’) around
the edges finishes it.
I don’t know if you can see it well (you can click the image to enlarge)
but I drew Jim’s face with raindrops (‘Faces come out of the rain…’)

Last week was all about the weather – tropical days followed by
thunderstorms – and ‘Le Tour de France‘. (In fact, the next three
weeks will be all about the Tour! Watching ‘The Tour’ on TV is
sort of a ‘Summer ritual’.
The Chronicles – week 26

And last but not least – I made another index card.
I couldn’t let go of the mermaids yet…
(Index card: 8 x 13,2 cm - 3.1 x 5.2 inch)
The background is made with Adirondack color wash spray ink – Ranger
(‘Stream’ and ‘Denim’) and salt. The mermaid and shells are stamped and
embossed with glossy, black embossing powder. The ‘bubbles’ were made
with a pearl pen.
I’m known for being a lousy cook, but I’m going to hit the kitchen now
to bake my son’s birthday cake. The famous ‘Elvis pie’*
I baked it before and failed only once, so it’s do-able, even for me!
One ‘problem’ though… the pie contains two cups of whipping cream,
at least 300 grams of sugar, bananas…

Allereerst gefeliciteerd met je zoon! Ik ben nog steeds aan het wennen dat mijn zoon langzaam aan groter wordt dan ik en hij is pas 13 nu…En pff, 19! Dan zijn ze volwassen..zo goed als! Je Jim Morrison tribute is MEGA MOOI! Ik heb de foto vergroot en bleef maar kijken wat je toch allemaal voor technieken heb losgelaten. Prachtig! En die indexcard is minstens net zo mooi..het is dat ik mijn papieren bubbeltjes al opgeplakt heb op mijn pagina van vandaag (en bovendien heb ik niet zo’n pearl pen) maar voor de volgende bubbels weet ik het wel! Bedankt wederom voor alle inspiratie!

Ik vond het zo’n mooi boekje, ik ben helemaal blij.
Ik woon op 3-hoog, maar ga vast beneden onder de brievenbus liggen hoor, ha ha!
Afgelopen week stond ik nog bij de Hema, op zoek naar iets wat ik voor een Art Journal kan gaan gebruiken, en had ik klein notitieboekje in mijn handen. Met de gedachte, in mijn tas, onderweg, leuke of mooie teksten of spreuken, dus wat ik op jouw blog had geschreven. Met die gedachte ging het voor die doeleinden afgekeurde boekje toch weer terug in het schap …..
Waar het ook nooit meer uitkomt met zo’n mooi boekje van jou in aantocht!
En natuurlijk, dat mag ik vooral niet vergeten in mijn enthousiasme over het boekje, van harte gefeliciteerd met de 19e verjaardag van jouw zoon! Ik wens jullie een leuke en gezellige dag toe en voor jouw zoon een goed en gezond nieuw levensjaar.
Jouw Jim en de zeemeermin vind ik geweldig, echt prachtig!

Gefeliciteerd Marit en Nout! En ooo, wat een mooie dingen weer… Ik ben echt he-le-maal weg van de Jim Morrison-LO, het is zo’n mooi geheel: tekst, achtergrond EN de uitwerking van het hoofd!!! En ook ik volg graag de Tour, dus is er de komende weken veel telefoonverkeer tussen mams en ik, we moeten toch even de tourdag doornemen… Raccoon heeft een nummer gemaakt wat net mijn hoofd binnenkwam bij het zien van al je mooie werk: Blue Days.
