A day at the beach

March 23, 2012 By Marit 28 Comments

It is around 69  Fahrenheit/20,5 Celsius today.
No, I didn’t spend a day at the beach, but I imagined one!
I made a sunny page with a haiku for Haiku my Heart Friday.

Een dag aan het strand

weer thuis vind ik zandkorrels

tussen mijn tenen

a day at the beach

back home I find grains of sand

between my toes

The sweet Rebecca hosts ‘Haiku my Heart’ every Friday.
She’s the core of the haiku circle and people from all over the world
come together at her place and share their haiku and images.
Find the list of participants here on Recuerda Mi Corazon.

..

I started the next page in my ‘Big Miscellaneous’  art journal
a couple of days ago. It didn’t turn out like I wished or hoped…
it’s kinda messy.

Tic Toc

(Size: 25 x 35 cm - 9.8 x 13.8 inch)

I know why I don’t like this page: it isn’t thought over and there’s too much
going on. I usually am in a so-called ‘concentration mode’ when I work in my
art journals, almost in a meditative state sometimes. Not this time though.
I worked on this page far too long – adding things and not really thinking –
and I was distracted most of the time.

Oh well, never mind.
I turn the page and start on another one. Not today though…
the weather is too bright to spend the afternoon inside the house.
I’m outta here!

I wish you all a lovely and sunny weekend.

I love the way you jump right in there and surprise us with a slang phrase like “I’m outta here”. You certainly are worldly inn that respect. I like your art hand especially like the creativity. Clock faces are cool. The way they are dressed puts them in a specific era. I need not see or concentrate on anything else in that image, and I like it. Nice haiku. On such a warm day, the beach would be a place to be, unless you ride a motorcycle.

    Peace

Wow Marit wat een juweeltje. Je hebt me eens verteld dat je eigenlijk niet zoveel met haiku hebt, maar ik lees elke week weer een juweeltje. Je onderschat jezelf 🙂
This is a gem Marit, wonderful painted picture with haiku.

I was supposed to spend the day at the beach with my friend yesterday but life had other plans for us. Luckily, I can always go there in my mind…
Love your haiku and that piece.
I also love that we can just turn the page when things don’t go quite as we had planned !
We have had warm, warm weather this week. A little too warm for March – it seems so bizarre ! But the temps are supposed to fall back into a bit more normal for the weekend. That is good. Need some rain and cooler weather for my tulips to bloom well !
Wishing you a sunny and fun weekend, SoulSister !

Hmmm. I might have to break out some paint and glue even if it means ruining my new manicure.

so nice! I went to the beach daily while on retreat and laugh to think how, like a puppy, it would follow me home everyday, slipping into the cuffs of my jeans and sticking, no matter how hard I tried to leave it behind!

Had to find the page you were talking about. I think you expressed beautifully what happens when we, as artists, lose our concentration, get distracted, or work way too long on a page. However, I happen to like your page.

Question: how much will it cost to have Feature Magazine sent to the states?
