Hi there sweeties, it’s Wednesday so you were probably waiting for me to post my ‘deskphoto’… and here it is. I must say that I took this photo earlier this week; it’s my son’s jeans. He got this second hand jeans from a friend but there is a large wear spot on a rather unusual place. You would expect these spots on the buttocks but this wear (almost a hole) is exactly in the middle. My son asked me to repair it but every repair you make there would draw attention so I (we) decided to alter this jeans with several patches like I altered his jacket.
I purchased Japanese patches and some extra Sashiko thread in the English online shop that Jan (Lunch Lady Jan) recommended and it came in last week. Aren’t those patterns and colours lovely?
I chose patches in blues to go on the jeans and stitched with the sewing machine. Here’s how that looks…
(I notice a colour difference in the photos, I think the first ‘blue-er’ one is the most accurate)
I started the Sashiko embroidery (you can see it on the pocket.) I will use the blue thread, and maybe the black, to keep it decent and not bring too much attention to my son’s buttocks 😉
After I drew ‘eyes’ last week (thanks for all the sweet comments!) I kept on drawing… I’m went back to the EDM list (“Every Day Matters”) and picked up the challenge where I left off…
EDM #8 – Draw your watch or other piece of jewelry
I got the perspective of the watch all wrong ( it should have been more of an oval) but hey it’s a good exercise. I try to keep it up with at least one drawing every week.
Besides all the ‘projects’ I still create weekly art journal spread in my Chronicles journal and here’s two spreads I hadn’t published yet (click on the photos to enlarge.)
The Chronicles of Marit 2018 – Week 35
In week 35 I didn’t feel like working out my notes so I glued a pocket on the page to store the notes. The image on the postcard was created by a fellow artist Gerdi Zwaan. She is a sculptor who lives in my neighbourhood, I visited her in her studio.
The Chronicles of Marit 2018 – Week 36
… and the Zetti-images keep showing up on my art journal pages.
Thanks for your visit to my blog today, I hope to pay all deskers that leave a comment a visit back later this week.

I just had to pop back and see that jacket – wow Marit it’s stunning. Such a clever up cycle – brilliant in fact! The patchwork on the jeans is just as lovely and will make them totally individual. I have never tried Sashiko but after seeing Jan busy with it at Llandudno, I think I need to give it a go. Thanks for inspiring!! xx Jo #14

Simply brilliant repairs to his jeans. My customers tend to want hidden repairs but these are much nicer….I wonder if they would notice if I got really creative instead? Have a great week.

Wow Marit, your son is getting a fabulous pair of designer jeans. Be careful that you don’t suddenly have a large order from his friends; they will be envious lol! Great journal layouts as ever. I like the idea of a pocket for your notes. Happy WOYWW> Sarah #4

Hi Marit, it’s good that you have patched the jeans. It’s something we used to do but then it kind of went out of fashion to do this but it seems to have come back again now that people are in to recycling. Have a great crafty week and a happy woywww, Angela x17x

How clever of you. You have to look hard to find the patches, yet there are enough of them, it looked quite intentional. What a very clever and unique way to patch a hole.
I LOVE your journal pages. They are fabulous, I want to make some Zetti inspired pages in my journal, too. I’ve forgotten how much fun they can be. Happy WOYWW from # 1.
