A new journal & woyww #401

February 8, 2017 By Marit 17 Comments

Good morning lovelies… Oops it’s noon, so it’s already good afternoon! I’m here on this gray day to show you my colorful desk and my even more colorful new art journal that I bound last week. I don’t need much words with the pictures so you put on your glasses if you need to (I know I do: the green ones that lay on my desk ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) and take a look…

WOYWW #401

woyww401

(WOYWW stands for “Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday.”ย  Our hostess Julia has all the info on her blog if you are new to this. You can visit HEREย  for the details.)

As I said, I bound a new art journal last week. All my journals have some sort of theme and I needed a new “Miscellaneous” journal since the last one (nr. 3) is full. So here’s my new journal Miscellaneous-4. (I took some extra photos while creating it.)

Finished journal: cover

misc4-cover

Not bound yet: front & cover

Not bound yet: inside cover & back

misc4-binnenkant

Spine (coptic binding)

Spine – detail (I put washi tape on the folded signatures, doesn’t it look fabulous?)

I was inspired to use Washi tape on the folded pages by a photo I saw on Pinterest. Yep – I finally gave in and am on Pinterest now…. I was afraid I would spend (too) much time there and that kept me from making an account, but I was too curious to stay away and I find I can control myself to spend limited time at that site. You can find me on Pinterest HERE.

Last but not least… if you like GIVEAWAYS I have good news for you. You find a GIVEAWAY in my former blogpost HERE

And that’s it for today folks.
Thanks for visiting, enjoy your week and if the sun is shining over at your place, please send some rays my way!

I think we all need glasses beyond a certain age LOL. Loving those collaged covers and the binding is just divine! I’ve always wanted to try this form of coptic binding, but it always seems a bit complicated to me. Will try it one day though! Happy Wednesday Marit! zsuzsa #30

Yes Anne, I use photoshop to add the labels. It takes me some extra time each Wednesday, but for you woyww-chickies I am ready to put a bit extra effort into it ๐Ÿ˜‰

great art journal and that is a great idea to use washi tape, if you on’t use it you loose it. the use of collage is exciting, very innovative.
    have an artsy week

Oh my, what a beautiful book. I love Janis! I’m intrigued to learn how to bind in this fashion – I will add to my book of must dos. Washi tape is a godsend for me at Christmas, it wraps and neatens the ends and sides of all kinds of things! Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a great week – EmbroidRage #8 x

You’re right, the Washi tape looks fab, what a lovely finish! also the cover is great, it would make a great print on a phone case! I really like the binding too, it’s such a good looking practical thing. I’m a bit jealous that you can post to your blog whilst your glasses are on your desk…I need mine for screen work now….it’s creeping up on me!!

Oh no Julia, I DO wear my glasses when I am posting on the computer… they were on the desk while taking the photo but as soon as I read or write I need to put them on.
