Goodmorning y’all, and a special goodmorning and HAPPY NEW YEAR to Julia and all woyww-deskers! Since I still have this week off (yes, I took a little vaction from my job during the holidays) I thought it would be fun to write my first blogpost of this year on a Wednesday and join the good ol’ desk-community. My desk saw a lot of action last week but today there’s not much on the table (yet.) But I do have something to show ’cause last month I re-organized my atelier and created more space…
In 2018, my beloved and I moved to a small apartment where we still enjoy living but we don’t have much square meters of living space. Therefore, my atelier served also as a guest room. One corner of the room was occupied by a bunk bed with a small bedside table and a bookcase separated that area from my workspace. (Most deskers will remember our move and the photos of my atelier that I posted back then…)
However, the only guests who ever sleep over are my son and his girlfriend and they are still young… so I thought they wouldn’t mind to sleep on a mattress on the floor for a night or so when they come by. Luckely, they thought so too! Once that had been decided the reorganization could begin. Bunk bed out and look… a few meters of extra space where I can even store an easel, a thing I wanted for some time now and finally bought! Take a look:
One side of my atelier didn’t change much…
… but it changed all the more on the other side! The bunk bed disappeared, the bookcase turned against the wall and look, all of a sudden there’s extra space!
And it didn’t stop with moving furniture around… after I created more space for myself I, of course, had to clean, declutter and sort out all my stuff! A big ‘clean-up’ action followed and now I’m ready for the new year…
Ooo, I’m afraid this is going to be rather a long blogpost, ’cause I also have some art journal spreads to show. These are the last spreads in my Chronicles 2022 art journal:
Chronicles 2022 – Week 48
Chronicles 2022 – Week 51
Chronicles 2022 – Week 52
You might notice that week 49 and 50 are missing… I didn’t make those week-spreads ’cause I got caught by the flu and when I got better, I had a lot to catch up on, so I decided to skip creating those spreads. I just tore out the notes from those two weeks out of my notebook and slammed them onto the art journal pages.
The 2022 journal is now filled and finished and goes on the shelf next to the other 12 (!) Chronicles art journals. But of course I go on creating weekly spreads in 2023. Here’s the new journal that I bound for this year:
Although there’s rain and heavy wind this morning, I am planning to make the most of today and I hope you do too! Thanks for stopping by.
Wow, so much extra space, you’re going to have fun with all that room, it looks great! And the kids will be fine on the floor, lol! Happy New Year Marit, hope 2023 is a good one for you.

Loving all that extra space you have created Marit. The new Chronicles look gorgeous on the outside and will soon start looking the same on the inside. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #1
Isn’t it rewarding when you unearth extra space in your craft-room by moving one or two bits. Love the new area.
Love the fact that you now have 12 journals all bound and standing there to record the various things that have gone on in your life.
Love seeing your pages.
Hugs, Neet 3 xx

Hey Marit, a really Happy New Year to you, so happy to see you here for a new year pst! You’ve been really busy, what with the rearranging of the atelier and the blog party and having flu, poor you. Those extra few metres of space are really valuable, you will have so much pleasure using them and room to have an easel….I can’t wait to see where that takes you! Sorry for the late comment, it’s been one of those weeks and I really didn’t want to miss a visit!
Love your space, and they do say “a change is as good as a rest” so in this case a re-arrange is as good as a NEW space, isn’t it? Love seeing the Chronicles and taking a leaf out of your book I am making a start on daily journaling myself. I hope I can last they year! 😀
HAPPY NEW YEAR and (late) HAPPY WOYWW! May it be a great one for us all.
