I have a versatile blogpost for you this Friday, so there’s something
for everyone!
First of all, this post is part of a bloghop that is arranged especially
for Theresa. Her friend Lea made all her friends ‘come together’ on
their blogs, and Theresa can hop from one to another.
So here it is especially for you Theresa:
Happy birthday!!!
I forgot to take a photo of the card I made for Theresa, but it looks a bit
like this one that I made for another birthday girl last week
(Happy birthday to you too Jenneke – did you get my card?)
And Theresa… next person on your bloghop-list is Julie Tucker Wolek
For all my other readers… there’s more, so read on!
I was very, VERY late with buying pretty annual Summer plants this year…
but last week I went to the local market and I made amends for it!
Look…
And you know what the best part was?
Because I bought the flowers way late in the Summer season,
they were sold for a pittance!
I could not resist to write a haiku about it.
Oude marktkoopman
schreeuwt met schorre stem: ‘koop nu! Bloemen halve prijs!’ |
Old market trader
shouts with a hoarse voice: ‘Buy now! All flowers half price!’ |
(This is for Rebecca’s Haiku my Heart .
Click the link to find the list of all participants who wrote a haiku today!)
My garden is finally ready for beautiful, lazy Summer Days.
The bamboo curtains are there to keep the place cool
at the end of the day, when the sun sets…
it gets real hot when the sun is low and peeps under the pergola.
I love sitting underneath the pergola, hear the wind rustling through
the leaves of the kiwi plant that grows above me and enjoy the pots
with the pretty flowers!
Besides filling the pots in the garden, I also flipped through this book
that I ordered online and received last week.
Cover to Cover – Shereen LaPlantz
“This illustrated work presents bookbinding as an accessible craft that
achieves striking results with the simplest materials. Chapters provide
a thorough grounding in materials, tools and techniques, and explore
a variety of traditional and non-traditional binding methods.”
I found some familiar binding techniques in it, but also some really neat
new ones! I cannot wait to try some of these out!
To all my fellow artist bloggers… I came across this announcement.
Geri Centonze (My Heart Art”) is starting a blog dedicated to blogging
artists. It will launch next week! I will be listed on that blog, and if
you’d like to be listed too, you can visit Geri by clicking here.
Please tell her that I sent you her way.
(The categories are extended with ‘Paper Craft’ – so you scrapbookers
and cart makers are welcome too!!)
That’s all for today dear ones.
I’m going to enjoy some ‘me time’ underneath the pergola with my new book!
Enjoy your weekend!

I’m sure the birthday girls were thrilled with their cards, Marit! And you garden the way I do .. . lots of plants in pots! I, too, love sitting in my little garden, and your new book looks like it’s good company.

What a beautiful space for you to enjoy ! I did the same with my flowers – bought them late and inexpensively. I may just do this every summer, now! 😉
Will check out Geri.
Happy Birthday, Theresa!
And have a sweet weekend, wonderful, talented One !

Jaaaaaaaa, ik heb je kaart ontvangen, Marit!!! Wat een verrassing!! Zo mooi! Zo vrolijk! Zo origineel! Zo creatief! Zo echt ‘Marit’!

First of all I adore your birthday card. It makes me happy just to look at it. I LOVE your photos of your garden. I want to BE there right now. Such lovely pics and the haiku is so cute. The book looks good and the blog advert is interesting too! Lots to think about. Fun!
xo,
Noelle

I like the reciprocity shown in your haiku, Marit: you get flowers to plant half-off, and the vendor gets to sell some plants which might otherwise have died. Your blog is bursting with positive energy! May I just say that my birthday is August 19!;) Is the card mixed media? I feel I could reach out and feel the sparkling orbs and the layers of paint… Beautiful garden–and the awnings were a good add…

Love your cards!! And your garden is like a wonderland!!
You know, I still use the only book binding technique that I know, and that is the one you taught me in the workshop!!!
Do you think the work that I do has a place in that directory? I would be embarrassed to apply and be rejected!! Let me know what you think friend!!!
Enjoy your weekend!
xxD

Hello you!! Love your post as usual and due to working again, I’d forgotten about HMH so your haiku was really fun to read. I used to have a garden like that and will again when we have moved from here! I came in search of the bookbinding book title because I want to order it from Amazon, and look – you have yours already! Very cool! =D
Have a great weekend!
Hugs, Rosie xo
