Hi there lovelies, long time no see – how are you? It’s my first day off for the holidays (I have vacation untill january, yay!) and I join in at woyww for the last time this year. On Christmas day my annual Top 2000 blog party starts (it’s fun, it’s for free and YOU are invited, check the link) so my vacation will be filled with mad creativity but I am looking forward to it! However, before the hectic days start I want to show you some of my latest art journal spreads.
To begin with, ’cause after all it’s WOYWW-Wednesday, here’s a photo of my desk
That bra… teehee… yep, I came home from work wearing this yesterday, do you recognise that ladies? Well, I took it off and put it on my desk ’cause I need to get that repaired right away before it ends up at the bottom of my drawer to never come out again.
The cardboard pieces will become the cover for my Top 2000 journal that I plan on making/binding today, the first day of my vacation will be well spend! I wouldn’t be able to do much other than play in my atelier anyway, because the Netherlands again is in a heavy lock down due to Covid (and the increasing infections with the new Omicron variant) and there is no possibility to do anything other than stay at home or maybe go for a little walk. All stores, restaurants, pubs, museums, cinemas and theaters are closed until at least January 13 and people can’t come together (well, the rule is to not invite more than four people besides your own household for X-mas and only 2 on all other days.) I’m lucky to have my atelier and the online Top 2000 event, I won’t be bored at all!
The next spreads in my Chronicles art journal do show the worries about increasing Covid infections – I need to finish the last spreads in this journal and a fresh bound blank journal is already waiting to get filled next year. I hope those spreads in the new journal will all be happy and colourful ’cause that would mean my days were, and I hope to find time every now and then to show it on my blog. For now, here’s week 45 – 48 for 2021.
The chronicles of Marit – week 45
The chronicles of Marit – week 46
The chronicles of Marit – week 47
The chronicles of Marit – week 48
I do wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS and all good for the next year, let’s hope things will get ‘back to normal’ in 2022 (although I doubt that…) Whatever may come: stay positive and keep on loving each other! Je t’embrasse!
I think that’s the first time a bra has appeared on a desk! I detest underwires bras for the very reason that the wires always poke out and are really uncomfortable! I hope that the lockdown works but am very grateful that I’d have a lot to do and not be bored either.
Happy Christmas!
Hugs LLJ 5 xx
So good to see the latest Chronicles Marit. Enjoy all the festive creativity. Merry Christmas, stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #4
I’m doing the rounds of all my favourite blogs in between making strawberry/sherry trifles ready for our family get togethers…..the jelly is just setting a little before I put it on (don’t want to dilute the sherry 😂). I’ve got no sewing today so making the most of my time.
I just want to thank you for your friendship and for all the lovely comments over the last year. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas and 2022 is a little kinder on us all.
Hugs,
Annie x
It was good to see your Chronicles and how you have viewed the horrid pandemic we are having. So sorry the Netherlands are in lockdown but can understand it, we may as well be for the going out I will be doing.
We crafters are lucky, no need to get bored when you can’t be out and about – crafting keeps us sane.
Christmas Hugs – Neet 3 xx
Glad to see you again Marit. That bra looks uncomfortable! We’re in scary times and many of your journal pages show that very clearly. I love the woman dancing in week 48. She reminds me of a Klimt painting.
I hope your lockdown is effective. Our politicians are stupid, doing nothing.
Happy Christmas, have fun with your blog party.
Take care and happy WOYWW
Hugs

Merry Christmas and good to see you with some great chronicles! . I don’t think the UK will be far behind you in lockdown xx see you soon . Helen #2
Hi Marit, great to see you. I have decided that 2022 will be the year I’ll get my half used journals out again and do something with them so we’ll see. Your work is always so inspiring. Oh and yes! that has happened to me but thank goodness not too often. You suddenly feel something sticking in the tender parts of your body and then it usually gets worse as the day goes on Good luck with fixing it. Wishing you a very happy woyww Christmas. Hugs Angela x11x
Love the pages Marit – very strong images and messages – I love the surreal feel of the third one. I had to laugh at the bra on the desk – yes I can remember a very embarrassing incident of getting home and finding about 2 inches of wire sticking through the button gap in my blouse! It sounds like you have lots to keep you busy through your lockdown – Hooray for crafting!
Have a happy and peaceful Christmas and stay safe and well,
Diana xx #12
Super pages, Marit – so unique! You’re none of us would feel bored in a lockdown – we’re not quite there yet, but I don’t mind either way. I wouldn’t shut the shops though – when they do that, all the non-essential shops that are allowed to stay open become very crowded, which kind of defeats the purpose! It’s better to disperse the shoppers. Wishing you a lovely Christmas – at least you’ll have lots of time to create and your online party will keep you busy too! xx zsuzsa #21
Sorry, I missed a word there: I meant to say “You’re right, none of us would feel bored in a lockdown”
Hello Marit, I did a double take when I saw the bra on your desk – it’s a first! When that happens with my bras i just throw them out because I know that even if I try to repair it, it will just be temporary. Your Chronicles are indicative of how many of us feel about Covid and it’s aftermath. Here in Scotland we are in near lockdown now and could very well be in complete lockdown from Boxing Day. Your right, of course, we crafter’s are luckier than many. We always have something to do. Have a great week and Merry Christmas to you and yours. Elizabeth x#22
Don’t laugh but I have two bras (one mine one Darling Daughter’s) that need a few stitches on my sewing room desk as well. I adore you journal pages, as ever, esp. week 47! “That should be a tee shirt” as my friend would say – we say it all the time whenever we see or hear something that…well, should be a tee shirt LOL! Your Top 2000 sounds fun but I am rubbish at following the rules – not cause I’m a rebel, I just get confused or misinterpret. DOH! I’ll review and then we’ll see….
A most Merry and Happy Christmas to you and yours! Stay safe and well this holiday season. And Happy WOYWW!

WOW your journal pages are really expressive and depict the current age so well. Glad it isn’t just me doing ALL the life experiences. Have a Happy Christmas, hugs BJ#13
I expect the bra is now mended, hate it when that happens, but I also understand the bottom of the drawer, unworn forever more, and that’s just a waste! Good luck with the Top 2000, it will be great. Happy Christmas Marit, je t’embrasse!
I took the wires out of my bras, I was so fed up of them sticking in me. Then went to a bra shop and got measured -totally different size to what I was buying! I bought bras without wires and they are so comfortable, but still, supportive. Wishing you a very happy Christmas Angela #17
