Celebration haiku

April 17, 2020 By Marit 8 Comments

Goodmorning lovely ones, how are you doing? I hope you are healthy, safe and happy in your corner of the world. It’s a beautiful Friday and you know what Friday’s bring, don’t you? Yes… a haiku! You also know that I always choose a photo taken by my friend Lena Schreijenberg to illustrate my haiku. Well, today is no different but it’s an extra special haiku ’cause you know what? It is Lena’s birthday!!!! Happy birthday sweetie, this haiku is for you!

Vandaag verjaart ze
en alle vogels zingen
terwijl ze langsloopt
It is her birthday
and all the birds start to sing
when she passes by

I submit this haiku to Recuerda Mi Corazon where our lovely hostess Rebecca brings us all together to share a haiku on Friday: Haiku my Heart

Because we are all in lock down quarantine overhere I cannot visit my friend, but I created this card for her. She should have received it by now…

The little dancing figures were part of a Keith Haring painting I cut out of an art magazine.

Now that I had my sewing machine on the table, I also created a card for my mum and dad.

Again, the figure was part of a painting and cut out of an art magazine… the name of this artist did not sound familiar to me, let me look it up for you… it’s Martin Jarrie

And that’s what I do during this quarantine-weeks: sit in my atelier and create! I hope you also found something nice (creative or otherwise) to keep you occupied during this strange times. Thanks for your visit to my blog and stay safe!

Je t’embrasse

Marit, you just never cease to amazing me! I love those cards! And… I always love the creative bridge between you and Lena.

Happy Happy Birthday to you Lena! I feel like I know you through your photos! Thank you for bringing such beauty to us each Friday with Marit!

All is well here. A friend said that one of the reframes for our “shelter in place” is actually “shelter in paradise.” And it is true. I am so grateful that we can share the beauty that surrounds us with others. And grateful for the beauty that shines from within, even in the smallest of places. Thank you Marit for being a light in my life and a glimpse of paradise. Big hug to you and your beloved. And to Lena of course!

The photograph is lovely. It depicts a place where I would love to walk and hear the birds sing. Perhaps you sing along with them. I hope so!
