(This blogpost was scheduled and if you are a subscriber to my newsletter, you read the first part already and know why I am absent…)
It’s September and oh, how I love this month! Even when I was a kid, it was my favorite month of the year. I was always glad that Summer was over – not that I didn’t like the holidays but I was a ‘rhythm/routine’ kinda girl even back then. And then there was that promising feeling of going back to school: new teachers, new lessons to learn, a new calender to fill and new experiences in the offing…
That feeling is back because I start a new (temporary) job today!
I am detached via an agency and I will work until the end of December at the “Zeeland Archives“. I look forward to stick my nose into old/ancient documents for three days a week, looking through all those old writings that I will have to sort and handle… I bet I will get inspired somehow and you might see old lettering and script come creeping into my art journals.
(The image is from the Dutch website Wat staat daer, where people can practise reading old scripts.)
So, a change is gonna come and all this means that I will not be able to write blogposts as frequent as before.
SO SORRY, DESKERS, but I will skip the Wednesday blogposts – at least in the next few weeks – until I found my niche and a new routine. My Friday (haiku) blogpost that I intend to keep going will probably be a little longer – when I have extra art to show. And when I’m settled and used to a new routine, I might find a way to join Julia’s group of WOYWW deskers again.
So here is my – for the time being – last desk photo (made on Tuesday.)
See the fabric on my desk? Our new couch (ordered back in June) arrived and although it is beautiful as it is, I thought it could do with some nice little cushions. It will make the couch extra special and comfy – so I dived into my stasch and found this piece of velvet that I have no idea where it came from, but it’s exactly the right fabric, color and pattern. I walked to the second hand store and got me three, cheap cushions. Now I need to find two other pieces of fabric to my liking (something ‘etnic’, Ikat) so I can make the covers.
Oh, and last week I also bought me a pair of great walking shoes in a huge sale. See: all good things come in threes!
The next/latest art journal spreads are only two (but the third is on my desk so that counts!)

The Chronicles of Marit 2019 – Week 33
Thanks for your visit, thanks to all my fellow deskers for becoming my friends over the last years – I will try my best to find a routine that will allow me to step back into the WOYWW circle again after a while.
Enjoy September, enjoy life,
keep on rockin’ in the free world!
