Hi you all and a special HI to all my fellow woyww-desk-hoppers – it’s been a month since I joined you with a photo of my work desk but here I am again! [For you who don’t know what “woyww”is: it means What’s On Your Work desk Wednesday and it is a weekly event hosted by Julia from the UK. Artists from all over the world post a photo of their desk on their blog and leave a link at Julia’s blog. More info about woyww can be found here.]
As usual, my desk is clean, organized and ’empty’ – did you expect anything else? I know, I know, it’s pretty boring how neat I am when it comes to my desk. I almost always clean up at the end of the day so I can start ‘clean’ the next day. This morning I was up early (it was still dark outside) and I found my desk like this:
Well, that’s no fun to look at so I staged it for you and lay down some projects and journals I am working on so that there’s something interesting to see.
I purchased the book “Creating Art At the Speed of Life” (Pam Carriker) a few weeks ago and I decided to work with all 30 prompts that are in it (I bound a little journal for that.) I have the feeling this book was a waste of money, ’cause I already know ánd worked with almost all the techniques that are in it. The theory isn’t new to me either… I created with some prompts but I got bored and I haven’t touched it in two weeks. I think the book is great for beginning art journalers though.
The other book “The Art of Whimsical Lettering” (Joanne Sharpe) was a present from one of my students (thanks Marie!) and I love it! I bound a small journal to practice my own lettering and I work in it from time to time inspired by all the examples Joanne shows in the book.
You probably recognize the other journals on my desk. I’m catching up with The Documented Life Project and hope to finish all the prompts at the beginning of next year. I LOVE my big, altered photo-book Grandes Chaleurs and keep on coming back to it and of course there’s my Chronicles – only four more weeks/spreads to go and 2015 is over. (I will have to bind a new Chronicles journal for 2016 soon.)
Here are two of my latest Chronicles spreads
The Chronicles of Marit 2015 – Week 47
The Chronicles of Marit 2015 – Week 48
In order to make this blogpost not too long I’m signing off now… hope to visit some (a lot) of your desks today and/or later this week.
Oh, and don’t forget about my GIVEAWAY – you have until Monday to enter.
I love Joanne’s style. You will love her book.I am still thinking about the book. I have 4 course on the go now, plus 2 next year.I am quite enjoying the lettering.Love all the other parts!!
I hope I will be able to keep my new craft room as tidy as yours but I fear I will not be able. Vicky(#6)
Loving your journal pages especially week 47. I too have bought art books and been disappointed when they are replicas almost of ones I already have – but hey I just pass them on. have a good week x Jackie 20
Gorgeous Chronicals – really fab! And what a lovely tidy desk in the first photo and then what a treat to see all the things you are working on. Good luck with it all.
Hugs, Neet 13 xx
Super pages. I did chuckle at your tidy comments because I’m the same. I will tidy before I start a new project. I can’t cope with chaos! Take care Zo xx 28
I love lettering too, so I love your chronicle spreads and am intrigued by the lettering book your student gave you. I don’t do the life project, but I do keep a Smash book where I document fun events during the year. Happy WOYWW! #29
Two things I spotted on/under your desk: the funky patterned bin and the black coffee. I don’t know anyone who drinks their coffee black! I have those two book too! Awesome journal pages! Your style is so recognizable! I must check out those teabag prompts! I’ve been saving mine for a while but not sure what to do with them. Happy WOYWW. zsuzsa #30
Well, I love a tidy desk! I can’t work in a pile of stuff, it drives me loopy 🙂 your chronicles are looking great!
Hugs, LLJ 16 xx
Shame about the book (you win a few and you lose a few as they say). I like Joanne Sharp’s style. I’ve been looking at her online stuff.
Lovely journal pages. Awesome!
Thank you for visiting earlier,
Have a good week,
Lisca
Wish I could be as disciplined and start tidy each time. I started documented life project before but sadly didn’t complete it – life got in the way 🙁 Anne x #49
Oh how I wish my work room was as organised and tidy…..just not enough hours in the day to tidy up at the end of each day for me.
Thanks for calling by at mine.
Hugs,
Annie x # 17
I am not even going to try and keep my desk as tidy as yours because I can’t and that’s all there is to it Lol!
Happy woyww, Angela x 24
Your desk is sooo tidy. Love that little caddy in the left I want to find something like that but I think I’ll make one over the summer if I can

Happy Belated WOYWW. I always love your tidy desk – and your various journals are amazing. I particularly like the big Altered Photo book. Ali x #39
