Chronicles art journal & Friday haiku

May 8, 2020 By Marit 11 Comments

Goodmorning lovelies. How are you all doing, still in lockdown and banging your head against the walls by now? I hope you can keep calm and stay safe! Last Tuesday our government gave another press conference declaring a relaxation of the lockdown sanctions. The Netherlands is cautiously getting back on track, step by step, and I am hopeful that I can get back to work this month. During the lockdown Dutch people always were permitted to go outside for a walk and since the weather was so nice last week, my friend took long walks in the early morning. I know most of the places she goes (I live in the same area) – here’s a photo of a small castle in a park at the edge of the town I reside…

Friday haiku

Gras. Bomen. Kasteel.
Een grote, stille vijver.
Zwanen ontbreken.
Grass. Trees. A castle.
And a quiet pond. I miss
a couple of swans.

The photo was taken by my friend Lena Schreijenberg

I submit this haiku to Recuerda Mi Corazon where our lovely hostess Rebecca brings us all together to share a haiku on Friday: Haiku my Heart

I, myself, spend last week in my atelier, mostly. Here’s my latest art journal spread.

The Chronicles of Marit 2020 – Week 18

It’s another beautiful Spring day and I might sit on the balcony for an hour or two, my legs are as white as the ‘missing swans’ in my haiku… they can do with some sunlight and tan! Hope you have a nice weekend and enjoy the little things. Thanks for visiting my blog!

From a desert scene to this is one easy click. How wondrous are the haikus that bring us together.

How I love to walk into the world that you and Lena paint. This is so beautiful Marit! I am doing okay over here. Not banging my head, but wondering how this is all going to fall into place, if it ever does… All I have is this moment. And right now… I am here with you and that is a good thing that I do not take for granted!

Oh Marit! This journal spread shows the absolute richness that is going on inside your head even in this time of quarantine. Your legs may be white from lack of sun, but your interior life is obviously colorful and vibrant with lots of detail! A lovely and visually striking composition!
