Goodmorning lovelies! I took the day off to join woyww… well, no – that’s too much honour but it is a fact that I took the day off today to spend time in my atelier. I hardly had any free days all summer, I worked while all my co-workers were on holiday, and I just needed some extra ‘me-time’ today… so yay, I’m in my pyjama’s typing this blogpost and after that I will dive into my paints and go loose/get lost in art!
I started yesterday evening already ’cause one of the art journal Facebook groups I am a member off had an ‘event’ which I joined. The result of yesterday’s evening is what you see on my desk this morning.
Creative evening
I don’t know how you call this in English but I’m sure some of you know these kind of ‘events’… the administrator of the group picks a ‘creative assignment card’ every 10 minutes and you work with the challenges.
There were 8 steps last night:
1. Use three shades of one colour on the background
2. Use strips of bookpaper
3. Paint with a brayer or palette knive
4. Glue snippets of coloured paper
5. Draw or write with your non-dominant hand
6. Make fingerprints using paint
7. Work with Woody’s or Neo-colors II
8. Paintsplatter.
I ended up with this messy and chaotic spread but I will use it as a starting point and hope to turn it into a “Marit spread” one of these days.
Here’s a Chronicles spread (week 35) I created last weekend
And now I’m going to pour me some more coffee, put on my old shirt and get creative… I hope you have a good day too. Do something you like, even if it’s only for a minute or so… look at the clouds, put some paint on a page and kiss your loved ones. See ya soon!

Ha wat een fijne Maritspread, jouw kroniek! Op een regenachtige berg in Duitsland lees ik je blog en dat voelt meteen goed. Straks in de caravan kan ik ook lekker los met verfjes. Liefs!

What a lovely post! I’m so pleased that you are having a day for yourself, we’re bad at making time to do what we want rather than what we feel we ought to! I think that having prompts like to really helps kickstart a project – the result is very definitely a Marit creation, love it!

Sounds like a great event Marit – I like the idea of a new prompt being introduced every 10 minutes. Hope you thoroughly enjoyed your day off too. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #8

Liefs.

I love those kind of events, they are always so creative. I would call them “Journal Jams” and have made many sets of cards to use as prompts for myself. Happy WOYWW! Elle #11 this week

Well deserved me day I think and just what you need every now and then. I am late again today as I’ve been in the cabin for a while this afternoon and then had a phone chat with my mother’s doctor, nothing serious just a check up on how she’s getting on as it’s very difficult to get her to the practice now. By the time I’d done that and made dinner the time just flew past but I’m here now working my way through all the lovely posts. I hope your week is full of crafty fun (when you get the chance) and happy woyww, Angela x5x

Thank you for the link. I have had a go at Coptic Binding, it turned out a little loose, but I think I know what caused it. Enjoy your weekend Angela #2

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with those sorts of challenges. I never seem to make anything I love, and like you, it takes a bit of further work to make it something I like, that feels more ME. I’ll look forward to seeing your “Marit spread….”
Happy WOYWW, so very late!
