Feminist Book Title Haiku, Chronicles & Online Art Journal Workshop

March 8, 2013 By Marit 18 Comments

Today is International Women’s Day and in honor of that, I went on a wild-goose chase in my bookcase this morning to see if I could come up with books that would make a fitting haiku. I thought as a feminist who owns lots of books about the topic, that should not be too difficult – and I was proven right.

Haiku My Heart Friday

Maybe They Knew Everything

Next is my latest art journal spread. I don’t have much to say about it, it grow from playing around with images, letters, hand carved stamps and colour…

The Chronicles – Week 9

Hmm, now that I look at it – is it appropriate to picture men in war-costume on International Women’s Day? The two Neanderthal figures on the right seem women to me – Freud would probably have a nice explanation why my unconscious made me pick these images to glue on my pages. Ha!

And now, to you foreign blog readers I say: women – remember how strong you are and be proud! To the men that read my blog (are there?) I say: why not try a costume like the above for a change? 😀  Enjoy your weekend.

Dutch readers: please stay a while longer ’cause I have an announcement.

Happy Woman’s Day, Awesome Woman !!
Your neanderthals clicked in with me. I am listening to the Clan of The Cave Bear Series by Jean M. Auel on audio books right now, so it felt like you were visiting my world big time !
Yes, let’s remember our strengths and our value.
Big love to you, Beautiful Artist !

Marit I LOVE your journal pages. Collage is a spiritual experience. Amazing what you can learn about yourself looking at your chosen images….which are also artistically pleasing. Great book title haiku as well on International Womens Day.

Wow, Marit! I just found your blog through a post on The Altered Page. Looking forward to The BIG Road Trip posts, now that I know about them. I enjoyed your clever haiku (and the book-spine image, creating it) for International Women’s Day. Yes, men can be feminists, too!
