Goodmorning dear ones, here’s another Friday and I have some art journal spreads to show. But first, here’s my weekly haiku.
Friday haiku
Klim er overheen of kruip er onderdoor want de zee wacht op jou. |
Climb over it or duck underneath, for beyond the sea awaits you. |
The photo is taken by Lena Schreijenberg
and I submit this haiku to Haiku my Heart
These next spreads in my art journal came about a bit fast because I have little time to create these days – besides my job I have lessons to write (and teach) for an online workshop and I had dental and doctor’s appointments. I usually am not happy when I have to see a doctor or specialist but I am WAAAYYY HAPPY with the last appointment: last Monday, I had cataract surgery and MAN, does the world look bright and clear now! I have to be careful to not accidentally touch my eye so I wear my ‘John Lennon’ pink sunglasses to protect me from rubbing it, and I cannot go outside yet ’cause there is a strong wind blowing. But I stay in my atelier and enjoy looking at all my paint and stuff – those colours, wow! And this is only one eye fixed. Next month I will be operated on the other eye and the world will look even brighter then!
Anyway, here’s my latest art journal spreads

My beloved and I bought art! That’s kinda special ’cause we never bought art before… in fact, we never had anything hanging on our walls in the 21 years that we live together! The walls in our old house were too bad to drill in (and many pipes behind them!) and the rail we wanted to attach to the ceiling never got there. We didn’t really know what we would like to hang on the wall anyway… and when we lived in our previous apartment we were so unhappy that we certainly didn’t want to hang pieces of art to the wall: we just wanted to get out as soon as possible! But now that we have a blissful place to live, this artpiece is the icing on the cake!
The photo on my art journal spread is slightly off colour so here’s the original photo.
It’s created by Sandra van der Meulen an artist who has an art gallery nearby. We love her work and we immediate fell in love with this piece when we visited her gallery a while ago. We agreed on a frame and it’s at the frame-builder right now… hope to get it back in a few weeks so we can hang it in our room and enjoy!
Thanks for your visit today, have a lovely Pentecost weekend.
Go do something you love, preferably WITH somebody you love and don’t forget to look around… see those colours everywhere?
Enjoy!

good morning my friend! so much to take in here today. i love your haiku invitation to go beyond a perceived obstacle and make your way to a desired outcome. such a metaphor for our daily lives and how expansive beliefs make new vistas possible within and without.
thank you for your sage advice to do something you love-with someone you love! and to be so present that you are filled with all the nuances of the world around you!!!
Hello dear Marit! The fence between me/us/you/Lena and the sea… is a piece of art in itself! Your haiku… has transported me there! I love seeing your artmaking, always and congratulations on new color and seeing the world brighter! And, I love your new art to hang on your wall, and that you have the place to do so. Enjoy! And thank you!
Lovely haiku and your mixed media collages are fantastic ~ so creative ~ Xo
Happy Weekend to you,

much love…
You have taken some of the “cataract surgery fear” away. I have to do it one of these days soon and I keep ignoring the fact. So scared.
About your haiku picture. Oh My! I would LOVE to climb over that fence and run and run and run across that field to the sea. It would be so wonderful!
Of course! Why let a little thing like a gate get in the way of your progress to the sea?
