Today’s photo, that illustrates my haiku, wasn’t taken by my friend but by a local photographer Gert Eggebeen. It pictures the “Oostkerk” (Eastern church) near my house. Some evenings, a colourfull light shines behind the windows remembering someone who passed away. “Everyone can light up a light in any color in memory of a loved one between 7 and 10 p.m. A modest fee is charged for energy costs.” There’s a calender to be found online that shows the names for whom the light is burning. Ain’t that a wonderful initiative?

Sometimes we need a reminder to remember…
That haiku, the light in the church. What a wonderful sentiment. I would light a blue, perhaps.
What a beautiful way to remember… a light shining into our world… I think I would choose green. I always love seeing your journals. Thank you Marit!
Nice haiku and photo

oh how i love this honoring of life through the gift of light! today my mother is being released from the hospital to return home. today my life begins a new chapter with her- living beside her day by day so she will have this next chapter of life to savor in her own home. i’m going to remember the honoring of this portal of light and love. thank you friend, you brighten my moment!
