Friday haiku: flat land

June 24, 2022 By Marit 5 Comments

Als een Jaques Brel lied
ligt mijn vlakke land klaar voor
weer een zomerdag
Like a Jacques Brel song
my flat land spreads out for yet
another hot day

I submit this haiku to Haiku my Heart

so soothing to have a soft horizon unfurl so peacefully. i’m struggling to hold on to the idea of peace in the
polarized turbulence of my birth country. i keep the hope of softening our hearts at the forefront of my thoughts, yet rarely find comfort when i leave the confines of my garden and home. thank you for this safe place to land, hugs from across the sea.

The heat seems to be everywhere these days. Keep cool, Marit, by writing haiku! 🙂

Thank you for this beauty in image and word and for introducing me to Jacques Brel. He is filling my heart and soul right now as I write to you with his music. As my friendship and memories of walking in your beautiful land with you… hugs from here to you.
