Friday haiku
Koud, stil berijpt duin. Een verre meeuw boven zee krijst de dag open. |
Cold, calm frosted dune. Far above the sea, a gull shrieks the day open. |

marit- your haiku is so gorgeous and haunting. what feels like quiet peace, suddenly cut open with a shriek. such a small collection of words so profoundly speaking of our entire world. the collective prayer for peace- the gut wrenching shriek of the mad man who denies it. of course your haiku can be about frozen dunes and a lone seagull. yet we can’t escape the inhumanity of war, or the lies that feed it. i’m so sorry for everyone- and for Europe who has known too much suffering on home soil. sending you love from across the sea. let’s all plant swaths of sunflowers- so many they will be visible as golden light from space.

The light. From your words and Lena’s photo, fills my heart. There are tears. And there is joy. Between them, I join you in this day. Thinking about you a lot. I hope you can feel it dear Marit. All my love to you and your beloved and your community.

Beautiful scene! But of course there would be a gull around to disturb the silence. Hahaha!

Love this haiku. It takes me right there to the scene. I can see it. Hear it. Feel it.
