Summer is slowly coming to an end so it’s about time I put some art journal spreads on this blog… These pages were made in June and July and that’s ‘bicycle race time’ so there are a lot of bicycle racers on my spreads. it counts for some colour doesn’t it?
But first, this little poem

Next, my Chronicle spreads:
Week 25
An old magazine article about Switzerland as a background because a friend send me such a beautiful card from that country and I wanted it on the spread anyway. I toned down the background with white paint, added the card and text and continued from there… glued a woman’s body, painted a head on it, added some colour (inspired by the lady’s clothes) and more text.
Week 26
The annual tour magazine that I always buy (because it lists all the routes) comes in handy year after year… I have a whole bunch of them and for a peloton image like the one at the bottom of the spread, it doesn’t matter which year you cut it from. On the contrary; the photo of the rider is recent… text in large and small letters – all this on a gelli-print background.
Week 27
Yellow acrylic paint background. Cut out pieces of patterned paper make the border. Images and text finished this spread simple but efficient.
Week 28
Gelliplate background (and help, I bound my book ‘too tight’ this year, there is hardly any room to paste more of those backgrounds, the binding is starting to fail…) Large photo cut out from a cycling magazine, small photo (‘ signs’) from the internet and again a lot of lettering.
Week 29
A background with bister stains. Illustration of a metro clock, cyclist (Remco Evenepoel) and a work of paper art (the horse) that I saw in the Museum Rijswijk.
Week 30
A gelli print background. Found/cut out weekly letters in matching colors. The photo of the lady on a chair also happened to have the same color/type of background as the basic gelli print. I painted over her head and gave her new eyes. Photo of legs/feet cut out of a magazine.
Hope you enjoyed seeing my art, there’s more to come in the next weeks.
Thanks for stopping by my blog, enjoy your weekend.

Love all the fun spreads in your art journal / chronicles Marit! Do you bicycle yourself or just watch, I wasn’t sure. But in any case, great image fodder to use!
