Friday haiku – mirror-water and a sketch

August 30, 2019 By Marit 9 Comments

Goodmorning lovely ones. I was absent last Friday because Lena (yes – my friend who makes the photos that inspire me to write haiku) and I were out to make more memories! Early Friday morning we drove to a nearby lake-area where we went for a long stroll. She took a lot of photos during our walk and afterwards we sat underneath a tree and I sketched the scenery.

The photo is made by my friend Lena Schreijenberg

stil spiegelwater
een aalscholver vloog traag op
toen we passeerden
calm mirror-water
a cormorant gently soared
due to us passing

I submit this haiku to Recuerda Mi Corazon where our lovely hostess Rebecca brings us all together to share a haiku on Friday: Haiku my Heart.

It was a nice, sunny day. Here’s me sitting in the shadow of a tree, sketching the bridge in the distance.

I go out and sketch every now and then and I found out I am a ‘free sketcher’. I try to capture the feel and mood more than trying to draw accurate. For instance, I don’t know if the poles of the fence are the right number…

When I see this sketch, I think back on a lovely day.

Enjoy your weekend.
Go do something fun.
Sketch a bridge!

The cormorant is no fool. He knows that humans aren’t always trustworthy.

I’m sure the cormorant is relieved now you’re gone!
