For over a year now, we have a leak in the roof that “they” cannot seem to find and fix…. Autumn set in last week with heavy rain and our ceiling is getting worse and worse…

I have been there more than once. I think we had the roof replaced 3 times in 19 years. I only had to pay for one. Poor workmanship caused the second two roofs to be replaced.
I am concerned that you will have a mold problem if you don’t already. Stay safe, my friend.
