The top 2000 party has been reviewed, my blog has been cleaned and the last Chronicles pages from 2012 has been showed… I arrived in the present and am ready to pick up the routine again!

Haiku My Heart Friday!
Here’s the latest haiku that I found in my book case

De hond met de blauwe tong De laatste eenhoorn |

The dog that had a blue tongue The last unicorn |
I did a bit of a ‘free translation’ to make the syllables fit in English.
The first two book titles are much simpler then my translation…
“I remember” and “The dog with the blue tongue” are more accurate but
I like to get the syllables right… I’m a hairsplitter 😉

Just before Christmas, I made a gelatin plate so I could use it to create mono types for the top 2000 party. I created mono types not only for the music-inspired art (btw, all my top 2000 pages can be viewed here) but made some ‘free art’ as well. (Oh, and the gelatin plate is still holding up in the fridge – I think I will play with it some more this weekend before it falls apart.)
Anyway, here are some of the mono types I made. (I put them together in the picture, you can view them all separate in my gallery)

After weeks of grey skies and rain, the sun is shining today (but temperatures dropped radically! From 10 Celsius/50 Fahrenheit to freezing!) I better take advantage of the good light to spend the rest of the day creating. My head is overflowing with new ideas, so I hope the weather/light will be like this all weekend… it’s so much nicer to create in good daylight then in the grey with poor (yellow) lamplight…
I hope the weekend brings you clear sight as well.

Happy New Year my dear Marit! Just ordered my THIRD issue of Featuring the other day! I can not wait, but in the meantime, I am commemorating or celebrating that I am indeed walking with a blue tongued dog and a unicorn at my side… The Last Unicorn is one of my favorite books of all time. There is a quote from there, a long one, that I will include here, because I think you will love it, if you don’t already know of it…

fascinating art! I too would be described as one who splits hair. I wonder if it’ my having taught for 33 years, or did I become a teacher because of that quality. hmmm?
Lovely post! Art and poetry! You are so busy and so creative! In researching haiku, I have come across multiple references that recommend that poets writing in English can and should use 3-5-3 instead of 5-7-5. I guess it is controversial but , for me, the only rule I follow as far as syllable count is……. 17 or less! Instead I try to stay with the spirit of haiku……. with varying degrees of success!!!

You know I have been reboiling my homemade gelatin plate about every 4 weeks or so and it is good as new and seems to get stronger as time goes on (I guess with each reheating it condenses a little bit)
Our local altered arts group is planning on playing again with gelatin monoprinting this weekend
