Hello Friends! Hello Friday!
Is it Friday yet? Aaargh, my head is spinning lately.
The days are filled with work and deadlines and on top of that
I have a lot of ideas and ‘have to’s’ and ‘want to’s’ swirling in my mind…
so when I saw the new prompt at A Year in the Life of an Art Journal
it really fitted my mood!
..
THE PROMPT: Vertigo
THE SONG: Right Round Ft. Kesha
PRODUCT/TECHNIQUE: Circles
I gave it a funny twist and went physical vertigo!
I would love to have time to play like a child on a swing…
The photo is cut out of a magazine and I stamped a lot of circles
(so this is what I hand carved the stamps for!)
I colored the circles with water soluble oil crayons.
The text comes from the lyrics and says: ‘Time is precious’.
(That’s so true these days!)
Are you inspired by this page or the promt?
Come on over to A Year in the Life of an Art Journal and play along!
The page reminded me of my childhood, so I wrote a haiku about that.
Here’s for Haiku my Heart :
Schommel
Jeugdherinnering: mama zoekt klavertjes vier terwijl ik schommel |
Swing
Childhood memory: mum seeks for four leaf clovers while I touch the sky |
(This is an old photo of my mum, NOT me... yes, we do look alike)
Want to read more haiku’s today?
On Recuerda mi corazon you’ll find the list with the other participants
I have all my work done for today,
there are a few hours left before dinner,
I’m off to see if I can use them creative!
Have a nice weekend dear ones!
Really enjoyed your post and your use of your newly carved stamps! Colors are wonderful. The haiku is grand … memories for all of us. I loved to swing!!!
Fun journal page — but I love the haiku memory it inspired. (Want to play along with Share the Joy on Thursdays?)
LOVE your stamp ๐ and the way you created your photo!! Have a great weekend.
Perfect summer memory….just lovely!
your post includes so many passions….summer, memories, mother, art, and kissing the joy as it flies.
i am so happy you have added haiku to your passion list!
Wonderful!!!! When I saw the prompt, I knew you were going to use your stamps!! And the Haiku awesome, and the pic of your mom, your right!! You do look just like her!
xxD
Your mom is absolutely lovely and your art journal page inspires me to check out the link that you left. I’ve carved a stamp only once, but your page inspires me to use the many stamps I have more. I hope you got your few creative hours in before dinner.
X Natalie
I love the story around the art, and I love the haiku. I can see the child touching the sky with her toes and mum hangs about amusing herself. Love the artwork as well. I’ll have to check out this prompting busimness when I have more time. Looks interesting. Very nice.
Peace.
Your beautiful picture and memory make for a very sweet haiku today. Good luck with all those deadlines!
Your art journal page is so integrated – you really created a beautiful and meaningful page! The haiku is a perfect accompaniment and expresses so well your emotions through concrete actions. have a great weekend!
pretty good to write the haiku in Dutch and English. Love the swinging page and your mom is also lovely.
GORGEOUS page! I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee all the circles….and loving that photo of your Mom! :):):):):):):):):)
Thanks for this fascinating post.
All the best, Boonie
You have a real gift for haikus Marit! I love that you can do it in both languages – awesome.
I was always too scared to swing so high! But, I also remember days spent in the park (or garden), looking for the elusive four leaf clovers… Thanks for the memories and I hope you got some creative play time! xo
Yes I remember touching the sky too on my swing as a child, nothing was impossible then, I’m making my way back there!
Lovely image and haiku.
BTW took a tour round your journals – special.

I love your story and the great colours on your journal page. Fabulous haiku.
aw, sweet haiku, and yes, you look very alike.
Prachtig werk weer, Marit!!

Perfect use of those new circle stamps, Marit! And, yes, time is such a precious commodity. How I wish to be a child enjoying the summer again – such lovely memories are floating through my mind. Your beautiful Haiku evoked memories of that lovely feeling of swinging higher and higher in an effort to touch a lovely drifting cloud in a bright blue summer sky. Truly enjoyed the pic of your Mom too! Hugs, Terri xoxo
