Good morning dear ones…
….
Oh, huh, it’s afternoon already…
OK then: good afternoon dear ones!

You probably forgive me my late blogpost
when you see the photo and read my haiku.
(WARNING: ‘Dirty picture’!)

..

De volgende dag

getuigt een volle asbak

van een lange nacht

The morning after.

The ashtray shows that it was

a very long night

For more haiku and photos, visit Recuaerda mi Corazon
where Rebecca hosts the weekly ‘Haiku my heart Friday’.

Don’t worry, I have nicer pics to show too!
(Oh, and before you ask: I’m alright, thank you – full ashtrays
don’t necessarily mean TROUBLED nights you know!)

You know that I love transferring photos onto my pages.
I never tried transferring a magazine picture though, so when
the ladies at the ‘workshop by the sea’ asked me to show them
the transferring technique, it was the first time I used a magazine
image. Elvy’s transfer came out quite alright (she shows the page
in a blogpost here – it’s the portrait in the background on the fourth
photo) but Margot’s and mine looked very blurry and vague.

I will show you:

When I wet the page, the image is clearly visible so I tried bringing it up
by putting another layer of mod podge over it, but that didn’t work.

What you should have seen is a Japanese bonsai tree

I put the page aside but it stayed in the back of my mind: why did it work
with Elvy’s image and not with mine? We used the same magazine, so
‘different paper or ink’ could not have been the reason. I used somewhat
rough background paper – but Margot used the same background paper
as Elvy for her background and her transfer came out blurry too…

I couldn’t leave it alone.
Suddenly I thought of this: both Margot and I transferred images of line
drawings. The images didn’t have much colour. Elvy used a very colourful
page to transfer. Would that be the solution?

So I tried again with a colourful image.

Haaaa… hooray for not letting go… it worked!

This page isn’t finished yet. I want to work on it some more and add journaling
– but I’m happy I stuck to it and tried again. At least now I know it can be done
with magazine images – as long as you choose colourful ones.

But to be honest: next time I see a magazine pic I’d like to transfer; I will scan
the image, print it and transfer the printed one πŸ˜‰

One last thing before I slide into the weekend:

Today is the last ‘voting day’ for the top 2000!!!
You have until 8 pm (MET – Middle European Time) to vote
for your favourite band/song HERE.

(The site is in Dutch, but it’s easy:

  • find your faves in the list and click on the names –
    there’s a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 15.
  • Click ‘verder’
  • Add ‘free choises’ of bands that you like who weren’t
in the list – if you have any
  • Click ‘verder’
  • Fill in your name, email, zip code, country, year of birth
    and ‘man-male’ or ‘vrouw-female’. Foreigners better don’t
cross the boxes that come next!
  • Click further

That’s it! You will receive your list via email as a reminder that you voted.

The broadcasting of the top 2000 starts on December 25 at 12.00 –
and ofcourse my top 2000 blog party/event starts at the same time!
I’ll give more information in the next weeks so keep an eye on my blog
if you’re into creating Γ‘nd music! You don’t want to miss the fun!!!

Now go and have a lovely weekend dear ones!
Create something – anything – and remember:

‘Keep on rockin’ in the free world’

(yep, that’s on the list too!)

i love the image that you were successful at transfering – very interesting! and I like the outlining you did on the bonsai tree. Looking forward to the top 200! don’t know how much time off I’m taking from work but I won’t have school work so I’m hoping I can squeeze out the time. have a great weekend!

Oh the memories that full ashtray evoked… I gave up a couple of years ago and still miss it!
Re: Transfers… I think I mentioned this a while ago, but try rubbing a very tiny amount of baby/vegetable or mineral oil onto the image. That will keep the image showing through like when it’s wet! ‘o)

I remember those days of staying up all night working on something or partying. The next day my throat would be raw from inhaling so much smoke. I’m glad I quit 9 yrs ago.

Well, I don’t like the cigarette pic but I love how your magazine transfer came out. That is just so beautiful and cool. I think that your creativity is just unfathomable. Lovely work my friend!

Your ash tray full of cigarette butts actually had me coughing. I’m wildly allergic to cigarette smoke in my old age. I am glad nothing “bad” had caused the stress. I have never mastered transfers. Which techniques do you like best?

Marit… You have a wonderful gift to be able to do what you do with images and then teach others. Good to be relentless to get what you want out of something. Hard work does it.
Thank you for the thoughts and prayers the past few weeks. I appreciate you being a friend.

    Peace.
