Hello Friday, hello sweet ones!
How was your week?
I have been in a creative flow the last couple of days, and man it feels good!
At some point, I was working on 5 pieces at once… not that I can show you all
five pages – some aren’t finished yet – but I do have some things to show.
I worked on several art journal pages and I even painted! I hadn’t done that in
a long time. It felt odd. I always have to get rid of the comments of my former
teachers in my head. I studied at art school in the eighties, and some teachers
still ‘haunt me’… (I’ll never forget this comment: ‘The only thing good about
your work is the little containers that you mix your paint in’)
I guess me art journaling has to do a lot with ‘prove I can be creative after all’
and trying to find back the joy that I had as a little child. (I’m happy to say that
I’m almost there… I DID find that pleasure and happiness back! But I put the
‘painting’ part aside and now it’s time to tackle that last hurdle!)
I started carefully and small… I sketched the jar that hold my brushes.
I was very satisfied with the result! I used Indian Ink and it turned out into a
nice, little watercolour sketch! While working on it, a haiku came to mind so
I added that too.
Here it is for Haiku my Heart Friday this week: Brushes

Did the title of this blogpost got you singing?
If so – you must be my age or older….
If you are young and it got you singing:
you must be a real fan of Pink Floyd!
Yep, this is the title of a Pink Floyd song.
I used it to make a page in my ‘Album Cover Journal‘.
Hey you
(19,5 x 31 cm - 7.7 x 12.2 inch)
I had not worked in this journal since early July and because it has a lot
of (big!) pages to fill, I guess this album-journal will turn into a multi-year
project – or maybe not, ’cause I started working on a third page already!
I’ll end this post with an index card I made just for fun.
Something silly and nice to do when all the other pages have to dry!
(Index card: 8 x 13,2 cm - 3.1 x 5.2 x inch)
I have plans to finish some more pages this weekend ánd I have to ‘clean out’
the workshop community-site in order to make it neat for the new students
that will come in next week. Two online art journal workshops will start then!
The registration for ‘A Creative Art Journey‘ and ‘Let it Loose‘ is still
open. You’re very welcome to join! Find all the information by clicking the
badges in the right side menu.
I wish you all a lovely weekend and sunshiny days!
See you next week dear ones!
Fabulous! your work is stunning! thank you for inspiring me today!

Oh Marit… I know that song. It is of my era and those artists, David Gilmour and Roger Waters, are genious. So now I am singing in my head and start laughing out loud at your comment about the jars you keep your paint in.
Your strength is in being able to say this to us. It shows your confidence and achievement in the field of art. I think you are a fantastic artist!
Then I see the Pink Floyd lyrics. Just freaking awesome.
Peace
All in all, it’s just another brick in the wall….
Yeppers!! Floyd fan here! 🙂
Loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the new pages …and loving that drawing you did!! AWESOME! :):):):):):):):):):):)
I love your pages and haiku! Such wonderful inspiration!
Pink Floyd is toch een beetje voor mijn tijd, maar je pagina vind ik wel erg leuk geworden!Ook je index card en je Haiku trouwens. Mooi zoals je je schilderkunst zo eenvoudig hebt gehouden. Helemaal Haiku!
You have been creating up a storm.
And shame on your art teacher ;( Aren’t teachers suppose to inspire their students, bad, bad person.
As for your pages, very artistic. I think it is so neat to use recipe cards. I use them for journaling, but this really this is so cool.
I love your drawing, beautiful
love all your creations!! that last card was made for me!!! because of all the rain and humidity my hair has been out of control!! love it Marit! have a beautiful weekend!
Love your journal cover!
Loved the Haiku and the missing brush is really up to some good art work!! 🙂 Lovely!!
LOVE your watercolor sketch and haiku (and as for those art teachers, just ignore them – my mother is fond of telling the story of her first art professor, who nearly failed her in the first year of college… Mom went on to have her art displayed in museums 😉
I am cracking up with the last one here….too cute!! 🙂 Try living in FL with all this heat and humidity – then you would really be cursing your hair or cutting it off. hehe
Glad you are feeling inspired. Keep up the wonderful work. Look forward to seeing more.
What a sweet haiku…watercolor brushes and applesauce jars, minus one! How great to be in the creative flow!!! I love the postcard about the hair – I can totally relate today…
Beautiful work Marit! I love that watercolor sketch!
I especially love the first journal page, lovely drawing and your handwriting is beautiful!
oh marit…i love your haiku! everything about it is delicious. the idea…the intimacy of the brush in your hand, your handwriting….everything.
i love that you have embraced haiku and look forward to you every friday!
your artwork is gorgeous and very free. I need to start doing that I think.
Fabulous Marit!
So sorry I haven’t been around lately, you’ve read my blog posts so you know why!!
I will be more present, I hope?
xxDaniella
Ben wég van je “hey you” werk!!
Prachtig van kleur en compositie!!
En… aan het schetsen?? Lukt je prima! De bijgaande haiku is ook weer fantastisch!!
Je bent echt een inspiratie voor velen!!
What a cracking haiku and sketch! The journal pages and artwork always please me because your humour shines through, as does your big personality, full of warmth.
I so understand you saying you are haunted by art teachers… and what a MEAN thing to say. When I think about the c**p that is shown in some galleries as “Art”, it makes me so mad. I find painting so liberating – even chucking paint around is fun. My oil painting abstract still isn’t dry, from this summer!!!! ‘o)
Have a painterly week and I hope your workshops are as successful as our summer camp was! xoxo
Rosie =)
PS – I wrote a triple Haiku about my beloved on Friday!!
Sometimes my life feels as unruly as my hair too, frizzy locks that fall out in bald patches! So I escape to my image making world and to the lovely blog posts like yours!
BTW Thanks for commenting about my sgraffito – scratching a story in layers of wax or oil crayons :~)

Groetjes.
I think your paintbrush sketch is fabulous. i love it… and I really enjoy reading your Haikus too. =) those teachers from the 80s had no taste obviously if they were saying such things about your work..
your art is always fabulous.
and on a side note, I’m envious of all your new students with your classes. they are in for a treat. =)
Hope you are doing well..
hugs
Theresa
These are so fun and whimsical! 🙂
What a terrible thing for an educator to say to a student! I’m indignant for you! *pouts*
Mooie pagina’s en ondanks al mijn kleurenliefde vind ik de haikupagina nog het mooist. Raar hoe dat soms werkt, maar de eenvoud ervan spreekt me erg aan.
Love these pages Marit! The colors and collage are fabulous.
Thank you for visiting my blog and giving me that link. I wasn’t aware of it and it was a lovely surprise!
great journal pages.
