Goodmorning beautiful ones, how were your Easter days? Too much eggs and chocolate? We spend the long weekend at home, the tourist season began and the town is overcrowded – something that comes with living in a tourist area close to the beach but I don’t always like it. I did, however, enjoyed the sunny days on our little balcony. I rearranged the flowerpots and sowed lathyrus (‘sweet pea’) that I hope will grow and climb along the wooden trellis my dad put against the wall last year. Last monday was a public holiday (do you call that a ‘bank holiday’?) and since I work three days a week, I took two more days off to have a whole week ‘vacation’! As said, I sat on my balcony but I also read and my beloved and I (binge)watched scandinavian crime series. Yesterday, I sew a bookblock to bring with me to work on the cover on Friday. Since a few weeks, a number of colleagues from the restoration atelier at the Zeeuws Archief meet every Friday morning to bind books. That way, we get a good view on how old books were bound and we can conservate them with more knowledge. And of course we go home with our own bound book – the one I worked on yesterday will be the fourth! I didn’t think off taking a picture until I was ready sewing – it would have been nice to show you how it looked when it was half way – but here’s how it looked on my desk when I was done.
The previous books that I bound had flat spines but this booklet will show ridges on the spine. I will take photo’s to show you when it’s finished.
Over the past weeks I created week-spreads in my Chronicles art journal. You may have seen the photos on Insta already…
Chronicles 2022 – Week 11
Chronicles 2022 – Week 12
Chronicles 2022 – Week 13
Chronicles 2022 – Week 14
So that’s for the ‘sunny’ and ‘creative’ part of the blogpost. The worries show in the last spread (which is in Dutch and says: “with my breasts in the ‘crush’ (***breast cancer population screening) and mom seriously deteriorated and sick after an IV that the doctor prescribed. What a cr@#$%p week!”) My mum is very ill and although it looked like she slowly recovered from the surgery, her health got worse. We can do with some positive energy to turn things around so please keep her in mind!
(***the breast screening went well and the letter I got last week says “no evidence of breast cancer has been found”)
I will spend today hanging out with my best friend Lena, it’s been too long since we saw each other and it was her birthday last weekend so I have a present for her. We plan to talk a lot, take a walk, visit some second hand stores maybe, talk more and hopefully laugh some. Or laugh a lot. I need that. Thanks for stopping by, see you later!

Firstly, sending good wishes to your Mum. Glad your breast screening was clear.
Glad that you could enjoy Easter on your balcony but the number of tourists prevented you getting out and about! Enjoy the day with your friend Lena.
Thanks for sharing your Chronicles. Helen #1

Sounds like you had the same idea as us. Living in Lincoln as we do the city is always busy during any holiday so it’s not a good idea to go there, even the park near us was full of people enjoying themselves but the children here are back at school now so it’s freedom again! Pleased you had good results and my thought are with your mum too. Loving the journal pages, you are so imaginative in your art work. Have a very happy woyww. Hugs, Angela x9x

I’m beaming positive energy across the sea for your Mum, Marit. I’m glad as well that your breast screening was clear.
It is so good you can, nevertheless, enjoy bookbinding with your colleagues, going out with your friend and gardening on your balcony. We don’t go out on bank holidays either. As well as the tourist traffic, we have all the lorries waiting to cross the Channel at the moment. After P&O behaved disgracefully by sacking 800 workers, seven of the cheap labour they replaced them with were found to be drinking on duty so their boats failed safety inspections again, so the lorry queues continue.
Better to stay home!
Take care and happy WOYWW

Marit, I love seeing the recognizable pieces of ephemera in your journal spreads, here! Glad you had some days off to create! Such colorful, creative work you are producing these days! So concerning to hear about your mum’s health. Is she back in the hospital? Hopefully, her doctor is treating this condition caused by the IV with all available resources. So worrisome for you and your family. You and she, both, continue to be in my thoughts! Sending best wishes, always, to you from the west coast of the US!

Meant to add so glad to hear that they found no sign of cancer during your screening. Huge HOORAY for that!!!
