Snow and ice… that’s what my surrounding world looks like. King Winter decided to pay the Netherlands a visit and this weekend, half the Dutch population can be found on the ice… skating is the no. 1 sport ánd fave activity in the Netherlands. However, there are creatures that don’t like all that ice. I am one of them, the other are the (water)birds…

It is freezing cold. The waterbirds-world shrunk to a hole in the ice |
No, this photo is not taken by my friend Lena. I made an exception today and present you photos taken by my cousin Annelieke, a real good photographer too (you see, I am surrounded by good photographers!) When you click ‘home’, there’s another photo she took with this blogpost. Just beautiful eh?! Annelieke lives in another part of the Netherlands (Twente) and if you pay her Facebook page a visit, you can see how beautiful that other part of Holland is: Annelieke Besters Photograpy
I submit this haiku to Recuerda Mi Corazon where our lovely hostess Rebecca brings us all together to share a haiku on Friday: Haiku my Heart
February is well on it’s way but I have not shown you these art journal spreads before… these are from January

Stay warm.
Stay healthy.
Stay alert
(and if you go ice skating: be careful and don’t fall through the ice!)

Brrrrrrrrrrrr Marit! Your cousin’s beautiful photo really captures the cold, as does your haiku. No cold for me please? And that is what we have today. So I will warm myself with your artmaking! Thank you my friend!
Everything shrinks when the cold is severe!
Imagine the shrunken world of all those people without heat or water in the middle of America’s frigid temeperatures right now!
temperatures (I typed too fast!)
Really nice journal work. And the birds….poor babies. I pray for their survival. I used to know someone named Annelieke. She was from Curasol / Curacao
