Index Cards

May 22, 2015 By Marit 5 Comments

It’s been ages since I created on an index card. There was a time that I created at least three index cards a week. I altered an old, rusty, metal index card box (see this post) to put the cards in and called it Box of Longing. That was in March 2013. Last month, Tammy from Daisy Yellow announced her yearly ICAD event (ICAD stands for Index Card A Day) and it reminded me of my box and the fun I had working on index cards.

This morning I took my Box of Longing out of its glass display case that is in our bedroom and put it on my desk. Luckily I’d dated all the cards (something I should do more.. I always forget to date my art)

I checked when I made the first card (March 24, 2013.) The last one is dated February 25, 2014. It’s time to pick it up again and create some index cards!

I found my own way of creating on index cards – most cards show a collage with a word or small sentence (see the series in my gallery HERE) and there’s my story and a tutorial about me creating on index cards in a ICAD-guestpost from 2013 on Daisy Yellow)

ICAD starts on June 1st (click the image to find out all about it)

I might keep a bunch of blank cards aside to use for creating with the challenges that Daisy Yellow/ICAD provides this year. Here’s a few that I made with ICAD prompts in 2013

ICAD-2013; prompt #1 – Zebra

01-ICAD-2013

ICAD-2013; prompt #2 – Candyland

02-ICAD-2013

I couldn’t find nor remember the prompt this was made with… but it says ‘ICAD’ in my archives so I must have created it with one of the challenges…

Are you looking forward to this Summer yet? Besides working on index cards, you can also jump in and join the QUIRKY DUTCH SUMMER (free & inspirational posts/tutorials in English and Dutch!) series on my blog, that starts on June 15. Read all about it HERE.

It’s a long (Pentecost) weekend in the Netherlands and last week I finished the assignment that I was working on for so long… yay! Tomorrow a friend of ours comes over to visit and the rest of the days I am going to enjoy ME-TIME in my atelier!!! Have a great weekend y’all. Enjoy. Have fun. Create an index card.

    Great fun seeing your cards.
Your box of longing is in my favorite colors dear art sister ♥
I have an old metal box that is still waiting to be altered and it has been awhile for me too making index cards.
We are having a three day weekend here in the US too (Memorial Day).
    Enjoy * Enjoy dear one.

Hey Marit!
